nbadraft.net has the Knicks taking Frye with the 8th pick, and draftnet is by FAR the most accurate mock draft maker. I've liked Frye for a while now and I wouldn't hate this pick, although I'd prefer Warrick.

Zeke DID invite Frye to Summer League last year, I wonder if draftnet has heard anything?

Isiah will have a surprise pick for all of you this season. He will do the contrary of what all of you are hoping to see happen. Watch him trade whatever is our first pick for a couple of early first rounders...

How about this deal? We trade pick #8 to Atlanta and they give us pick #1? No other players are involved; so it works under the CBA.

Channing Frye. Do players get any softer than this guy ? Wow, this site is full of people who look at measurables & forget all else. Frye should have a career somewhere in between Nazr Nohommed & Chris Mihm.

I disagree about NBADRAFT.Net being accurate, some of their mocks are so goofy. They usually have 10 Euros going in the lottery or mid first round. Didn't they have Lampe with the 5th pick in 2003.

NBADraft.net is not accurate but it looks like bible scripture compared to the other sites out there. Hoopshype.com for instance has the worst mock draft out there. Draftcity.com is also in the loony bin.

I never mention ESPN because they are know it alls but don't actually know anything that the common everyday diehard doesn't.

True about Lampe. But Euros in general are the hardest to predict. Yeah, they had Lampe going 5th, but that was before a memo went out from the NBA at 5pm on the day of the draft saying there were unforseen buy-out issues with Lampe and he would cost a lot, upwards of $10 million. The league retracted that statement AFTER the draft began, but that's why Lampe slipped to the second round, because no one wanted to give him a guaranteed deal with the insane buy-out.

But, in general, look at their mock for last year.

Now, I'm not even saying that they will leave Channing going to us, they update more than once a week and usually once a day leading up to the draft. But, I'm betting there's a good chance we pick who they say we'll pick on the day of the draft.

---

as for Channing being "soft," I don't see it. He's big and tough and skilled. He didn't average a ton of rebounds, but he averaged about the same amount that Taft did. He stepped up big time in the tournie, where Taft sat down. He's mentally tough. Give me a smart player who plays hard, rather than some guy who looks tough and plays like an idiot.

You argue with the idea of Frye being labeled soft & then compare him to Chris Taft (who defines soft/lazy/primadonna). If you've ever seen Frye play, you'd know that he's a finesse guy like Curtis Borchardt.

I liked what I saw in the tournament. He stepped up. Look, I'd rather take Bynum or Warrick, but I'm guessing that's not happening. I'm just trying to make an argument for Frye over Taft.

I would take either Frye or Taft in the top 15. But if I had to take one, I'd prefer Frye. Frye is soft....but at least he has skills & character.

You know, the more I think about it: the more I want Frye at 8.

The kid's a shotblocker, rebounder, plays with fire, steps up in big games can score inside and out and is perfect to play with Steph on the pick and roll. He has the chance to be Tyson Chandler with the offensive game of Kurt. That's a very good thing. He's a legit 7 feet. He's a true center.

What the hell is wrong with this guy?

If he can do that playing center in the NBA he sounds like an all-star candidate. If he can do that, we should pick him.

That's the key... can he play center in the NBA. Hopefully the workouts will make that known.

I think Frye is no better a prospect than Travis Knight was coming out of college. He's skillful & perhaps 7 feet, but is soft. He's not strong enough to get position on the low box & is a poor rebounder.

draftcity, nbadraft.net and realgm all have the Knicks selecting Frye. What's more, they all have the Knicks selecting two bigs. Even ESPN has the Knicks selecting two bigs. I don't know if I agree with that. Zeke has said he wants and athletic wing man, and I still think he'll look for that at 30...
