Ex-Magic guard Penny Hardaway left the New York Knicks near the end of this season, but he has one year to go on his contract. He is pushing for a buyout so he then can sign with another team, hoping for a return to Orlando, where he already is looking for another home. . . .

What a hoser... PLEASE take a buyout and go elsewhere

Isiah's not gonna give him a buyout when he has an expiring contract that can be used in a trade. Penny will just have to wait until he's an FA to go to Orlando or to be bought out by the club Isiah trades him to.

I'd much rather Isiah bought him out. Clears a roster spot, and it's a sure thing he wont pull the trigger on a stupid trade with him. Heck, buyout TT while he's at it.

agreed... buyout Penny. Forget taking back other peoples sheot players and contracts. Let whoever we draft #30 take his spot. As for TT let him play his ass off for his next contact. Hopefully someone has a fire sale and we get a Baron Davis caliber player. Otherwise let him and his fugazy self just come off the books. I would rather have them gone. Clearly Isiah isnt able to resist the temptation to trade expiring contracts for crappy players with bad contracts and including picks while doing so. Buying guys out is the only safe route.

Exactly, see what you can get for him, and if nothing by the deadline buy him out. There is no way I buy him out without testing the market. That would be foolish. Teams could use 16 million in cap space, we'd have to get a good player/s in return and maybe a pick. Buying him out would be foolish.

It would seriously be in the Knicks best intrest to buy out Penny Hardaway. His roster spot is more important to this franchise than his trade value.

Houston is definately coming back. Ariza is definately gonna improve on his rookie season. The Knicks really need that roster spot especially with potentially three rookies coming aboard. Isiah probably will pick up some off the radar guys like a Sundov, Barrett, Butler, Jermaine Jackson, etc.

you and I are in the minority there. I 100% believe Houston will be back next year. Now I have no idea how long he will last but he will report and be ready to play. He's got a great work ethic. He's obviously not a fast healer, but he's also never been hurt before.

I still think we focus on solidifying guard with that 30 pick or going after a guy like Charlie Bell who just turned 26 and could be a BIG help to us.

I think Houston will be back too, but it will be more like for 15-20 minutes a game. We just can't rely on him as the go to guy anymore. I miss him in his prime like hell, but that's why I like a guy like Martell Webster, b/c he can bring something similar, in the long run.

Like I said, I have faith Houston will and can return, but I hope he's still not doing that same rehablitation that he did last Summer with that Olympic high jumper dude.

at least u get some value for the money if you make the trade & hold onto a chip that can be used in another deal at the trade deadline if necessary...buying out a player should be the absolute LAST possible option you take...going that route w/o exploring trade possibilities is just stupidity...VH's contract is expiring anyway.

Isiah has already said he will never trust Allan again. I don't think we'll ever see Allan or Penny suit up for the Knicks again.
