Sounds like Kwame was babied all of his life. I didn't read the whole article, but he doesn't know what to do with his dirty clothes, he doesn't know how to shop. He probably never had a job. And the guy sounded frightened to sleep alone. I mean, dude, most 19 year olds would probably be thrilled to have their own appartment.

The guy seems like he was literally spoon fed up until he was drafted by the Wizards, and all of a sudden, everything just comes to a screetching hault. I bet I know why he has a poor work ethic now. The guy needs a change of scenario. Unfortunately, I don't think NY is the place for him, b/c it would be 10X worse than Washington.

wow; what a shocking article. The stuff about not knowing what to do with is laundry was shocking.

I thought this quote was interesting.

When Jordan, in his role as the team's chief executive, and Coach Doug Collins decided to make a 19-year-old fresh from his senior prom at Glynn Academy the No. 1 draft pick, they had no idea what they were actually getting themselves into. Isiah Thomas, the head coach of the Indiana Pacers, tried to tell them. "You're going to be shocked," Thomas said. "He won't know a thing about basketball."

This article is like 3 years old.

Isiah knew back then, I am impressed with that.

its very old, but its still valid. Whats he 21? 22? For all people knock MArbury he did buy Barbosa a car when he had no money or wheels. He did put Ariza up in his own house.

I would 100% take a shot on Kwame because people change and still grow well after 18 years old.

Big ****ing deal the guy is making 15 million a year....i can't stand when people make a big deal out of players donating anything....

they should they are stealing, getting paid for not producing, they should help everyone....

Instead of getting 30 inch rims, 100,000 earnings, these players should really make an effort to help their communities but rarely do they ever

do you have an IPod? An HDTV? A car? Its all relative. Maybe you should do without those things and give that money to unicef. The $500 a year you spend on internet access a year could feed 20 people in Africa.

Like I said... its all relative.

A lot of athletes do charity work. I know that KT, Houston, Penny, Jerome, Stephon and a lot of the other knicks do so. Most of it involving kids. That's fine.

As for Marbury, there is no denying that he's willing to help people out. I know he's done work to help people out in Coney Island. He set a nice bball court out there, and I'm sure he's done a lot more. I have no doubt he'd be willing to give Kwame some advise, and even a kick in the but. I think the Knicks org would actually be great for Kwame. Houston, Marbury, Malik, Jerome, all of those guys would be good for him. We have a bunch of good solid guys on this team. Nobody has ever denied that. It's the freaking city and media that makes me fear for having Kwame.

He'd be fine. I'm confident of it. I'd take the risk.
