i fear what isiah is going to do. he calls jim dolan one of 3 guys he admires in sports. thats an insult to himself, and the worse sck up job i have ever heard.

i fear for my knicks, i fear years of ploys and blunders revolving doors and excuses.

i fear something like Tim thomas jamal crawford and pick 8 for ron artest scott pollard and john bender

something foul is coming, i can smell the low tide already.

Even an idiot like Dolan should have learned from the McDyess trade.

I agree; don't ever trade a lottery pick for an injury prone player

McDyess wasn't injury prone at the time though. He had that one knee surgery, and that was it. Nobody thought he was gonna reinjure it. But yes, we should learn from that anyway. If someone has had a severe knee surgery, you don't wanna risk the future on him, and then some, unless the guy is like 22 and has proven that he's 100% recovered and probably wont reinjure it.

McDyess injured his knee 2 years before we drafted him and missed the rest of that season. He then tried to return the next season, but only went a few games before re-injuring it and again missing the rest of the season. That qualifies as injury prone to me.

when the Knicks traded for him he had had 1 kneee injury. Only one. Look at his #s... He came back and broke it after those 2 preseason games. He had surgery to repair that injury (surgery #2). When it took him a long time to heal he had additional surgery (micro fracture, surgery #3) because the knee cap wasnt healing "properly."

So how is a guy thats only had one injury considered injury prone

Didn't McDyess try to come back with Denver during the season but hurt himself and had to miss the rest of the season while they operated. I could be wrong. I thought that when he played in the Knicks pre-season games it was his second time coming back after he initially injured himself. I could be wrong.

A few corrections: McDyess never had microfracture surgery. His first knee injury was toward the end of the 2000-2001 season, causing him to miss the remainder of the season. His second knee injury was early in the 2001-2002 season, causing him to again miss the rest of the season. Then in June of 2002 Layden traded our lottery pick and Camby for him.

like I said. After the original injury we traded for him. He blew his knee out after 2 preaseason game and had 2 surgeries on the same knee before playing again. I remember they did the 2nd surgery when his knee cap wasnt healing and they drilled holes to improve blood flow. I thought thats what microfracture surgery was... drilling holes. Either way the point was he only had had one injury and that one surgery before we got him.

Either way, he hadn't played on his knee at the time we got him. We didn't know what we were getting and some of the reports were that his lift was considerably gone and he wasn't the same player. Still there is no way it should have happened. That really screwed the course of our future.

That would be the equivalent of trading for Zach Randolph now. We haven't seen him play, but we know he had knee surgery. Why do it when the risks are so high? And they were quite high then.

Here's a good McDyess biography.
http://www.jockbio.com/Bios/McDyess/McDyess_bio.html

McDyess first injured his left knee toward the end of that year he put up 20/10 #s (two seasons before the Knick trade).

The second half of the season failed to live up to the promise of the first half. Antonio injured his knee and missed 11 games. The team collapsed without their star, and struggled to win even after he returned. Once again, the Nuggets missed the playoffs, and Antonio took it hard. Despite leading the team with 20.8 points and 12.1 rebounds a game, he accepted the blame for their sour second half.

He then injured it during training camp the next year and again about 10 games into the season, at which point he had surgery.

The Nuggets failed to make a major move in the off-season. Fans were hoping they would add a complementary superstar to ease the burden on Antonio, but no such deal surfaced. Then, 10 games into the 2001-02 season, Antonio went down with an injury to his left knee. The decision was made to repair it surgically, and he was done for the year.

There were at least three separate occasions where he injured his knee over a 2 season span before Layden acquired him. That qualifies as injury prone to me.

I think this is the bone graft surgery that you (Fish) are confusing for microfracture surgery.

After nearly six months of rehab, Antionio's knee was reevaluated. Doctors determined that the healing process was too slow, and that additional surgery was required. In late April, Antonio underwent a bone graft operation at the Mayo Clinic. Team officials called it a "bump in the road," and pointed out that it would expedite his return.
