Not heavily interested in Daniels unless we trade Marbury. This team badly needs to fix philosophy of taking all of the league's 6'8" forwards and trying to put together an undersized, but talented backcourt with a completely overpowered frontcourt.

Getting back to Daniels, the only problem I have is that with Marbury and Crawford already there, I don't think there's enough minutes for Daniels to want to sign here.

I like Daniels and has done a lot for the Sonics, however, I have to agree with Solace. Unless we are going to trade Marbury, I don't see how he will get this playing time, especially if we draft a guard, and even more especially if Houston comes back able to play, ohhhh, 15 minutes a game, even 20. I think it would be more wise to use the MLE to extend Ariza and sign our second round pick, if he's worth it.

full MLE for Daniels? hell no...he's a nice role player to have, but i'm not committing to a backup PG for the full MLE when we have Marbury & Crawford here as it is.

use the MLE on some frontcourt help...a Dan Gadzuric is 1 option.

I agree here, especially when it's a role player in his late 20s with no upside. If we had everything else worked out and just needed a solid PG off the bench, then I'd go for Antonio Daniels with the MLE.

Why is a 30 year old role player considered "in his prime" and a player that you'd give a full MLE contract to (which currently stands at 6 yrs, 40 mil) but giving a 29 year old (Ray Allen) playing like a top 10 player in the league an equally long deal is viewed as awful?

Actually I believe Daniels is 29 as well. But I understand your point and agree. Some players just seem young because they have been under peoples radar. Hes been in the league a long time now, does no one remember him guarding Kobe in thw WCF some years back. he was good then and he's good now. I just don't understand why all of this clamoring for a player who is 6-4 and is a role player?

WE NEED BIGS!!!! AD would be nice, but not for the MLE, I'd much rather take Steven Hunter for that. He is not a need period. We need post-scoring, blocking and rebounding. This is really crazy, lets draft a pg too while we're at it.

AD turned 30 a couple of months ago. I agree that we shouldn't be spending the full MLE on a 30 year old role player at a position where we already have a star for 38 mpg.

I would stay away from Daniels also....I had ask for him to become a Knicks early on, but what we really need is a true PG that can handle and sets up our boys...Marburry is a scorring PG a la Billups type, Billups is just a better defender right now. That is why I think that Larry Brown would be an excellent coach to teach Marb...


Draft a young kid straight out of a big program with either the second round pick or one of our late picks and let him develop under Marburry....We need to develop spending responsibility, especially if we have the opportunities....With the picks that we have and the expiring contracts, it makes no sense not to spend wisely...

Trade whatever first pick that we have for two early first round picks and draft a capable/pass first/defender/type PG to backup Marburry...forget about overpaying

If you were to read any of my previous post, you would know that I am one of the few on this board who advocate using all of our current picks on guys no shorter than 6'10". As you can see, I said trade our whatever early 1st pick for 2 early first round picks which would give us about 3 picks in the first round...
