I will say this gives us a great advantage considering isiah can get in his car and check him out by himself as many times as he wants, while the other teams likely looking

I heard it through the grapevine that all 30 teams will be represented in two formal workouts. So the interets level has to be high.

Ford on where he thinks bynum fits.. pre-workout.

"On Friday, high school big man Andrew Bynum reportedly declared for the draft.

No one is exactly sure how a 7-foot, 300-pound kid got lost in the shuffle this year. But when he showed up on the first day of practice for the McDonald's All-American game last month, NBA scouts were watching him more than any other player on the floor. While most of this high school class is either way too skinny or too undersized for the NBA (or both), Bynum is neither. He's big, strong and not afraid to mix things up in the paint. While he could stand to lose about 25 pounds, he's still a very mobile, athletic big man.

Bynum has been leaning toward going to UConn next season. He hasn't hired an agent and I think going to college is a great decision for him. He's still very raw on both ends of the floor and playing for Jim Calhoun for two years should boost his stock into the lottery.

Still, right now, teams seriously would consider drafting him in the second half of the first round. There just aren't many big-man prospects in the draft and Bynum has as much upside as any of them.

The deadline for underclassmen to declare is Saturday, May 14th."

Seems like another Al Jefferson situation where teams are gonna regret passing on a high school kid

Let me be the first to say that I think bynum will either be a huge disappointment, or will take several years to develop. I am a native NJer and haven't heard the best of things about him.

yeah I can definitely see that scenario Tesla. If this guy is being overrated so much on this board imagine if Eddy Curry was coming out this year. Everyone would be in love with him even more since he was praised more than Bynum by the mediaand Eddy Curry hasn't turned out to be anything special. Yet his ceiling was supposably higher than Bynum's. Look how long its taken Curry I can't even begin to imagine how long its going to take Bynum if he ever reaches Curry's level and isn't a Big Country like bust.

I'm all for taking Bynum over anyone but ONLY IF he really dominates workouts and the only reason 7 teams pass on him is because they are afraid that he will take long to develop.

and there's always a chance Bynum will fall to 30 if he really stinks it up and is so raw. I'll gladly take the risk at 30

the best thing is for him to go to school, i mean 2 years at uconn would do wonders for him. i feel bad for him in a way because it really seems he wants to go to school and his older brother is driving this, that being said, how can we discount a 7-1 290 pound C with his potential?

If we ended up in a draft where we got Danny Granger Eddie Badsen and Nate Robinson, for example, Id be thrilled. We would've taken 3 physically built athletic players who can all play now. I think the bigger name has been julius hodge, but eddie badsen i think will be a better pro and a steal.

If Bynum stays in the draft and goes right behind us and end sup a 7-2 315 pd skilled monster in 3 years, and is some teams franchise player, it will hurt. Lets hope that he just goes back to school so we dont have to give it any more thought, there could be a strike anyway and this kid would be caught up in crp like that at 17.

I guess for the Knicks organization, it would be better for us to do a
Granger
Robinson
Badsen
draft
and see if we can get a big man else where??

If I were a top player, I'd skip college or leave college early as soon as I thought I would be a 1st round pick. The opportinity to get a multi-million dollar guaranteed contract is too appealing to pass up on just to stay in school, "personally mature," and possibly have a career-altering injury. Even if you don't get injured, you're still living in poverty (at least many of these guys would be) every year that you stay in school. If the degree is that meaningful to you, you can work on your degree in the offseason or after you retire. I know it's not the same growing experience as you get in college and you won't get the chance to work on your game at the college level before jumping to the pros, but it's a cost-benefits decision. The benefit of getting millions right away is too much to pass up on.
