Seems like there's a ton of 2 things in this draft:

1. Excellent PG Prospects
2. Raw Centers - You've got:

Bynum
Petro
Akindale
Martinas Andry... (can never remember that spelling)
Splitter

We could very well have our choice of any one of those 5 Centers at 8 and then turn around and grab a PG at 30. If, in fact that happens, I believe we'll get more production from the 30th pick than the 8th pick next season.

Why? What qualities do you think they have over:

Martinas Andry... (can never remember that spelling)
Splitter

I'm not being a pain in the ass, I'm honestly asking. I've read write-ups on all & am not seeing consistent rankings.

If it was up to me, Id give Bynum a guarantee at 8 and call it a day, the problem is the Knicks have 0 patience.

I would to bring in a serious, serious big man coach, the best athletic trainer in the country and a nutritionist and concentarte the entire first year on getting his body, mind, skills all honed up and ready to participate in year 2. You would think of any team in the lottery, the Knicks have a great ability to put a pick in the cupboard for a year. If I fail, well I failed, I took a great chance with a 7-1 300 pound skilled 17 YO, no matter what, i think that he will be a jerome james at WORST, considering that, you could hav a real bust at 8. On the flip side you could have a franchise C, but the reality is you would have to be patient for possibly 2 years. EVEN in 2 years he would start the season 19.

Thats my choice, I know the Knicks wont do it, they seem to need to have to satisfy today to forget about tomorrow.

But I would say LOOk at what Seattle did. They took a C in the lottery knowing he would sit a year or 2, and they still won 52 games.
i just dont think isiah is that smart, he seems to panic and has this win today at all costs mentality that never works in the nBA. Hey maybe we can win 45 games with what we have and than BANG, we bring in a muscular 7-2 300 pound skilled C the year after. Makes sense, no?

briggs, in case you forgot, this is the knicks board. you must think you're on the spurs, heat, detroit, etc. board where something like planning for the future is practiced.

its probably closer to 4 years but again, its still worth it. If you can get him playing 15 minutes a game in year 2 its great progress.

This is part of the reason Blatche jumps out at me. 7 footer with skills on both ends. Whats the downside there? Rashard Lewis?

me too, tho it doesn't have to be those 2, I'd like to get any 2 bigs, i'd like bynum and taft, or taft and akindale/frye.

Id like us to get a play now big, and a develop big stashed away for later. I'll be pissed off if we draft a pg, it makes no sense.

I would go for Bynum and Akindale too...They can both shotblock and rebound....With JB and Sweetney as featured PF minus Kurt and Malik, our squad would be off the hook...JB is a scoring PF, he is not a center, especially since he is only 6'9". Isiah has no choice but to pile up with big centers...

i'd go for bynum and akindale...

if we draft these kids, don't pick up anybody in a trade and go with this squad, will we be any better?

I think we need to make a trade to a) get rid of our glut at PF and b) get another potential all star on the roster.

who do you want to trade??? I want Kurt and Malik out of town, because they both want to be starters and if we keep Herb around, there is no way that our youngins will get any burns..

Briggs - Not saying your wrong. Patience would be a good thing. But that's a hell of a lot easier in Seatle then it is in NY. A GM in NY is under a lot more pressure to produce immediately. Of course all Isiahs moves have not done much if anything to make us better but it still isn't fair to compare Seatle to NY.

Also - you keep mentioning promising Bynum the 8th slot. But if the guy has as much potential as you thing. Why would he settle for that? It would make more sense for him to go workout for other teams and see how high he can go.
