Lots and lots of folks on this here site are down on Sweetney. I've heard his name come up in more trade scenarious (most of them bad) than I can count

Now respectfully to all the naysayers.....Sweetney ain't going nowhere this season. Isiah will not be giving up on Sweetney, Ariza, Crawford or Marbury anytime soon. That's just the facts plain and simple.

We haven't heard any reports on Sweetney in the media. Nothing about him being in LA or in DC etc. No, I think Sweetney is on a crash program right now that's gonna take him into next season. Me thinks Sweetney has a lot to prove and will come into the season with chip on his shoulder the size of his *** last year Watch out for him because he's gonna be an animal come October.

not me.

The only way I trade Sweetney is if we're getting a bigtime player in return otherwise its not worth it.

I definately want Sweetney to be a long term part of this team, but I also recognize that we have 5 PFs, and Sweets is the only one with a contract that teams will deal with.
If Sweets has to be shown the door, then so be it, but only if we get another youngster in the mix.

That's it in a nutshell.

The Knicks are a lottery team......no use holding on to guys just because he possibly could get better.....how much better? Who knows. Sweets, with all the skills we see in him, did have a decent streak of good games toward the end of this season.

But what if the Knicks can get Taft in this draft? Taft is everything that Sweetney isn't. It would be nice to keep both.....but what about KT, Mo, Malik and JYD?

The easiest players to trade would be Sweets and KT. Nothing we can do about it.

The only comeback Sweetney is having is coming back for 2nds at the chinese buffet.

Nah, i like sweetney but he's starting to look more and more like Lonny Baxter. I really wish he can a break-out season.

I too hope sweets can continue to improve. I thought he had a good, but uneven season. Kinda like our team.

He should be retained. We know his strenghts, and his weakness (chinese food?), which is more we can say about Kwame.

Change is not always an improvement!

I would trade Sweet for a higher draft pick. We could use that pick to draft a taller and better player player....

I like Sweetney, but I'd be willing to move him in a deal for an All-Star level 20-something player.

Sweetney didn't impress me at all last year. He look undersized, slow, and defensively poor, just like the rest of our PFs. I'm all for keeping prospects, but when do you stop calling a prospect a "prospect?" There were times where he came on as a sub and looked so completely disinterested. He showed flashes of being a good post presence that you can bring off the bench, nothing more. I used to be high on him, but now I'd trade him if we can get a taller, better player.

Curry's out indefinitely with heart problems.
My guess is that Sweetney has little trade value around the league. If a team wants to give up something meanginful for him, great, but I don't expect that. I think he's viewed as another Clearance Weatherspoon around the league. We're probably better off developing him and hoping he can get in shape.

Sweetney can be a beast if he gets in shape and develop an attitude when he is on the court. That dude is too nice..

how many coaching and roster changes has MS seen since he's been here? This is just another reason why this is such a lousy place for young players. Teams that are good at developing young players have a consistant model, a consistant approach, a system and young guys are allowed to make mistakes.

3 different coaches, 2 staffs and 25 different teammates in 2 years doesnt help young players progress. All that and he still gives you 8.4/5.4/53% and 2nd on the team in FT attempts.

I thought all things considered Mike showed some good things to build on. He camps out under the basket, draws contact, is a good passer out of the post and can push bigger guys away from the basket, and score on bigger guys as well.

Yea, he definitely strugged maybe towards the end, but he's shown some promise. I just really hope he loses some weight, and next year, we use him in the offense a lot more.

This Summer, the main priorities for Sweetney should be to just lose 20 lbs, and keep that weight for the season, and work on his footwork on defense. He has the offensive moves.

Maybe the roster changes affected him a little, but the bigger problem for him is his weight and lack of intensity. If he were 20 pounds lighter and demanded the ball on offense, he'd look fine out there even after roster changes. He probably would have thrived actually after being given the starting position and playing with Marbury.

The problem is and will always remain the same until Kurt is out of town. Sweet can't be to demanding, or better yet, I don't know if it is of his nature. He seems to be satisfied with whatever is given to him.

I agree and that (along with his weight) is why I don't expect him to be more than a valuable sixth man.

no **** sherlock... he's a 2nd year player who sat almost his whole rookie season and he's playing with an entire roster of guys making 5 times what he makes with the "veteran" label.

For you guys that were able to get to games let me explain to you what happens. Every possession MS runs hard down the floor and fights in the post. He establishes good position and has to step out because the guards dont feed the ball in the post unless Herb is screaming for them to.

What his one skill above all else? Whats the one thing more than anything else Aguire works with him on? Low post scoring. And the guy doesnt get touches, and STILL draws doubles.

The guy is a scorer in the post. Scorers need touches. MS is just another example of players not being utlized to take advantage of their skills. Typical Knicks

I agree with all that. We all know that already. I don't think anyone was disagreeing with or unaware of what you just mentioned.
