i like marbury. i think he's a really good player.

craw, ariza, and if we draft warrick, are all up tempo players but the question i have is can marbury give them the ball to be effective in an up tempo style.

marion said that nash and kidd got him easy looks and with marbury he had to create his own shots. if warrick is marion part deux, then would the same thing happen here? same with ariza?

craw, we know, can create his own shot so he's good if he gets the ball. but ariza and a player like warrick will need help. has marbury matured enough to be that guy? would that mix of players work?

running or not he did make the playoffs and gave the champion Spurs a run for their money. He will be fine with a team of Big Z/Taft or Green

I agree i have a short film on some of Marb's highlights its like 53 mbs I wanna let folx here see it, its older because it only has PHX, MINNY and NJ, but you get to see some passing dunking and taking it strong to the hole.

I think the better question is ... are Warrick and Ariza redundant?

Not at all we can use both. They would split time at SF with Warrick likely starting. Warrick is a 3-4 combo with a little more versatility than Ariza because he can play inside and outside (more and more eventually). Ariza is a 2-3 combo thats strickly meant to play on the perimeter. They could be a great compliment to each other. You can play them at the same time as the 2 and 3 or as the 3 and 4. I love the idea of having them both. I'm all for taking Warrick with the 8th pick.

complimentary. Ariza is SG/SF. Warrick is a SF/PF. Ariza can check Wade on the perimeter. Warrick could guard Jamison. Warrick plays much bigger than Ariza. Ariza is more perimeter oriented on D. I think having Ariza, Craw and Green is VERY redundant.

To answer the original question: I think it may have some merit that Marbury isn't necessarily the best guy to put with Ariza/Craw/Warrick. Marbury needs a shooter from the wing and someone he can pick and roll with. I think Warrick could play a complimentary role and be a great defender/weak side shotblocker, but you would still need a pick and roll center and a shooter. Can Jamal be the shooter? I dunno. he seems to be more of a playmaker. Can Ariza? iffy. He's developing a J, but it could take time... I just don't want to regret passing on Warrick.

I mean, I don't think Taft, Green or Splitter fit into the scheme I mentioned either. Guys like Wally Z and Zydrunas fit that mold. I hope Kurt gets traded for Z or Wally.

how is Green redundant I guess you're happy with the undersized 180LB Crawford as our SG when he's been a PG because of his size all his career.

Getting torched on the perimeter everynight and shooting 39% from the field whereas I guarantee you Green will do better in a couple of years if not next year.

with that said I think Warrick will be very valuable because he can guard the perimeter as well as the post like a Prince but with the draft you got to take the best player. If we had a pick in the 10 range than I would be all Warrick!

everytime I see Marbury pushing the ball he looks good. When he's driving in the open court in space he's unguardable. He's good in both.

agreed...the only question i have of him is if he'll ever become a consistently good defender as well as becoming more of a leader next season...if he can do those 2 things, he's going to join Kidd, Nash & Iverson as the best PG's in the game.

I would like Green if Ariza hadn't shown he can play great perimeter D. I agree Green has the CHANCE to be special in a few years, but he'd be buried on the bench here. It's a bad pick for us.

Also, I really don't think Green will last past 5 anyway. And if he did last past 5, I feel like Toronto would snag him at 7.

I don't know why Warrick's name is continuous mention as who Isiah will take with the 8th pick. To my understanding Warrick is steadily dropping in GMs mock drafts, and other mock drafts. I think Warrick and Hodges were brought in for the 30th pick not the lotto pick.

they had him guarding Wade, one of the toughest covers in the league, and Trevor was forcing him into Js. He's a great perimeter defender, and there's no reason to believe a kid who worked on his J and D over the season won't get better and better.

draft talk is 10% honest and 90% smoke screens right now. I just keep thinking that in 95 everyone thought Zeke would take Damon, in 96 everyone thought he'd take Camby, in 97 everyone thought he'd take McGrady and in 02 everyone thought he'd take Fred Jones...it seems like Zeke is one of the few guys who will NOT smoke screen. It's not like he'll come out and say it, but he won't come out and claim to like someone else.

Other GMs do just that though. Do you REALLY think Martynas, Fran Vasquez and Splitter are all going in the lotto? I don't.

Yeah, I do. First off most lottery selections do not make themselves available until after the lottery. His agent must be watching the mock drafts as well telling him to get out there early because his lottery status is falling. Warrick became a victim of senior problems. Warrick is slipping not just in the minds of GMs but their scouts as well. While I understand that NY is Red and Orange country, Warrick hurt his stock in the NCAA tournament, one of those last impressions things. Second, the amount of talent of underclassmen coming in this draft just keep getting better, it just's a numbers game that is forcing some guys stocks down and Warrick seems to be one. 3rd he is a tweener (teams just have bad experience with tweeners).

I totally agree with you on all that. But I also think it's significant that Warrick was the first and only big name first round talent he worked out so far. Just a feeling I have. I could be totally wrong. He seems to fit into the mold of guys Zeke drafts and has acquired in trades: Camby, Tmac, Ariza, Jamal, Tim Thomas (skill set, not heart)...
