He's a tough SOB, he is a great, great coach. he's a pefrect transitional coach. He runs a great system that relies on guards and post defense. Look at their teams--they give up no points, each year they are among the leaders in defense. Hes from Philly, he knows the big cities, he's young etc.. and a BIG winner. hes very respected and wont cater to any individual, rather a TEAM approach. I dont think he would cost an arm and a leg.

No thanks. I want a guy that I know can coach on this level already. The Knicks aren't coming off a multiple championship run or contenders to try someone like Martelli. Besides, I don't think he would deal with the NY media that well. He has a real tendency to whine a little.

Martelli? Great coach on the college level and I love his attitude....but isn't a lot of St. Joe's success on offense because of the fact that they run a ton of illegal screens? That's not gonna fly in the NBA.

Yeah I don't about him as a pro coach either but I have to say I always love his interviews and I especially loved him at the draft coverage last year when he showed up so big for his players, especially Jameer as he sat and sat and sat.

I don't think he could handle the New York media.

I seem to disagree with alot of you about the media, I think he'd handle the media pretty well. Tune into Mike and the Maddog during Tourney time, he's a regular guest whether they are in the tournament or out and he does a excellent job with them. Those are the 2 biggest critics in NY and he seems to be in well with them. I'm a graduating senior at the University of Rhode Island and our biggest rival in the A10 aside from Providence could be St. Joes, we've had some real battles with them the last few years... therefore I can't stand them and if he brought Jameer Nelson and Delonte West to the Knicks... oh man, Id have to swallow my pride.
