I keep seeing his name for the #8 pick. I don't see what people see in this guy. I see the following: Bad body language...looks very primadonna like, almost disinterested. Seems lazy. I keep hearing the Chris Wilcox comparison, but Wilcox at least has great hops.

To me, Taft's upside is having a Mo Taylor career....which ain't great my friends.

I'd take Sean May ahead of him. Hell, even Erik Williams of Wake is better. Matter of fact, I don't see why Williams isn't viewed as a top 10 pick.

Taft shows alot of skill with the ball and he has footwork to show. He is lazy looking but whatever I saw from him last year was better than anything I've seen of Tiago Splitter and that other 7'3" kid from Europe.

We'll see very soon how good the kid will be. I compare him to Chris Bosh in that Bosh was considered skinny and lazy too. I'm rooting for this kid.....He's from Brooklyn like Villenueva.

i also read in an espn the magazine article that taft has some attitude problems where he thinks hes the greatest thing to ever live.

that ego could be good or bad. i can easily see him clashing with the vets, but who really knows.

the guys got a big body and when he decides to play hes very good. i wouldnt be upset if we drafted him.

people probably said similar things about Charles Barkley- he's a tweener, he's got attitude problems.

He did go on to have a nice career.

If you want a nice guy, lets go dig up Travis Knight.

Agreed, we have enough lazy heartless players on the team. We don't need another one. Pass on Chris Taft.

Travis Knight was a stoner. That is why he was so laid back and nice. I have first hand knowledge of this.

I don't get where this comes from. He "looks" like a primadona and "bad body language." Why don't we judge Mr. Taft by what he did on the basketball court for Pitt which was put up 2 very solid seasons for them and lead them to the NCAA tournament twice and against a very solid Big East those years as well. Sophmore seasons in the NCAA are notoriously slow years for most players, just look at Josh Boone, Charlie V, both whom were highly touted for big years. Taft can postup, he can shoot the 16-18 footer, he can rebound and he can block shots, this crap about him looking like a primadona doesnt cut it with me, I'll judge him by what he does out on the court and not give him the wrong end of some "judgemental opinion."

great and I mean GREAT post!

I have a feeling thats what you get when all you know about a player is what you read on nbadraft.net and draftcity.com and don't actually follow the tournament he dominated at least

My opinion is my opinion...not regurgitated stuff from some website. I've seen Taft & he is lazy. He was not even as good as Chevy Troutman who did all the dirty work defensively, plus scored & rebounded more. And Troutman isn't even an NBA prospect.

NYK, I agree, I mean years ago a player named Tracy McGrady had the same knock on him when it came to body language and work ethic. He turned out pretty well.

Yeah good post. The guy probably has the best post game of anyone in the draft. We'll find out from the workouts. If he does well he will be gone before #8.

good point Joe, the same people said the same things about Jermaine O'Neal as well and I think he turned out pretty well. The new guy in the NBA to say this about is Kwame but thats a whole different story and a whole different thread so I won't get into that. I'm just going on what I saw Taft do in college which was put up good numbers in a offense that was guard-oriented becuase thats how the coach likes to run things. Yeah Chevy Troutman might have been a better rebounder then Taft but so what, Troutman was also stonger and a senior last year, Taft was only a sophmore. Chicago workouts are going to be telling on ALL of these players but I for one believe that Taft is going to perform well and he might even raise his stock to the point where he won't be available at 8 anymore, the kid has that much talent.

Taft is not going to cost us trading an asset, like Kwame might. I am SO for this kid...
