Trade from strength (unload some power forwards):

Let's assume Phil Jackson re-ups with the Lakers. I think he'll want to upgrade shooters & defensive toughness asap.

Knicks trade: Kurt Thomas (toughness) & Jamal Crawford (shooter to protect Kobe)----I also think Phil will think he can improve Jamal's defense & decision making.

Lakers Trade: Lamar Odom & spare change (to even the salary). Odom will not flourish with Kobe but will flourish back home in NY.

Next:

Knicks Trade: Sweetney (I like him, but I think height & hops limitations will always prevent this guy from being better than average).

Grizzlies Trade: James Posey.

Mid Level Exception: Sam Dalembert (longshot given he'll demand more), or Jerome James, or Kwame Brown

Draft at 8: Sean May (who I do think is more like Elton Brand and less like Mike Sweetney)...plus the Indiana connection (Scott May/Isaiah Thomas) may point things in this direction. Unlike Splitter, Petro....he'll contribute from day 1.

Draft at 30: Nate Robinson

Roster:

C - Jerome James, Bruno Sundov (in reality, some power forwards get minutes behind James)
PF - May, Mo Taylor, Rose, JYD
SF - Lamar Odom, Ariza, Tim Thomas (trade bait, inactive list), Penny (trade bait, inactive list),
SG - Posey, Houston (can he ever give us 15 minutes a game again?)
PG - Marbury, Jackson, Robinson

That team (though a little lacking in the outside shooting department) is 10 games better than the sorry team that just finished a sorry season.

other than the Phil Jackson to Lakers part of that plan, i don't see anything else likely to happen.

That Lakers trade makes some sense, Kurt is better than all of those bigs that played for the bulls, Phil could utilize his skilss I'm sure.

Don't know if its happening though. Kobe and Crawford? I don't know about that, but hey, who knows.

Actually that trade is terrible, the lakers would be better off using the exception on a player like Antonio Daniels, which would allow them to play up tempo and improve their D....

Draft a player with some potential maybe a villenuava, petro, or even trade the pick with devon george for something

I would rather include ariza with crawford, and thomas and take their pick in the deal.....that would really give us a chance to get better.....

Draft Green, Granger, Nate Robinson, get Kwame with the mid-level, and trade sweetney with an expiring deal half way through the season

Marbury/Robinson
Houston/Green
Granger/Penny
Sweetney/JYD
Brown/Rose

That blueprint sounds good, and why don't we give Clyde a magic spell and have him come back to play the point, and also demand that our oppenents always play barefoot.

TO say this another way - none of this is going to happen.

Why would phil( if he decides to take the job) all of a sudden want a running team or run an uptempo pace (in your words) with AD. Last I check, the triangle offense has been utilize in a half court set.

I like your blueprint, but I don't know if we have enough to get Odoms. We would have to trade one of the soon to expire contracts to LA, because they will want to take a shot at Yao when he is available. Here is a scenario that may unfold, what if Lebron is traded to LA for Kobe>>>>>>>>>>>

Hey dude! what is so wrong with that trade? for what it is worth, Kobe has 3 rings, Lebron may never earn one in his basketball career. Remember, being a champion has to be earned....

maybe in NBA live, but not in the real world...sure, talent wise they're comparable players, but a trade like that just won't happen...CLE is committed to Lebron & there's no way in hell they're going to trade him unless he takes it upon himself & demands to be traded.

That is exactly what will happen. Lebron will soon demand a trade because he doesn't like the moves that the owner has made...
