Im going against the grain here.

Day 1 FA
FULL MLE to Kwame Brown, Isiah on his doorstep with a limo to take him to nY for a night on the town.

We have reclimated players into stars--namely Antony Mason and John Starks.

at these $ 5mm per Kwame Brown is the best RISK reward play and its certain Wash will not match.

If he busts or just stay sat the level of 12 points 8 reb, you get a very fair deal. If they can somehow get everything out of him, you just stole a prize. NO reward comes with no risk

Yeah I agree. Many of us have felt the same way. Kwame would be a huge addition as long as you don't have to overpay to get him and right now his stock is pretty low. Still not convinced he's the defensive stopper we need at the 5. I would like to see him as our PF with Illgaukus in the middle! but if we dont get Z then I'll live with Kwame/Taft!

how many years you set him up for? no way we do the full 6, i'd give him 3 years tops at the MLE. it's not the money, it's the length of the contract that can really set us back if we get stuck with a bust

Not going against the grain with me, I've been one of the very FEW Kwame Brown supporters on this board for the past 2 months. For the past few weeks I have upped my stance on him becuase of the situation that happened with him and the organization down in Washington and there is no chance that Washington will match a 5mm midlevel offer sheet if Isiah offers it too him. I am EXTREMELY confident of playersl ike Kwame under Isiah's watch, Zeke is very patient when it comes to young players and reclimation projects (see Jermaine O'Neal, Stephen Jackson, Ron Artest.) I think Kwame can perform very well in New York or any new team for that matter becuase of all the hoopla that comes with being the first pick in the draft and being "Jordans Guy" that surrounds him in Washington. I honestly can see Kwame taking a very very very similar career path that Jermaine O'Neal has taken and he just needs a fresh start on a new team to do it. Again, I'm very confident of young players under the watchful eye of Zeke, his patience and ability to teach these kids is unbelievable. I think theres a excellent chance he'll be the Knicks starting Power Forward next year.

we can give him a Jamal like contract where he would be making over $10-12mil in his expiring year. Not many teams can afford to do that I don't think.

He quit on his team during the playoffs, in his contract year. What else do you really need to know about this kid? Spending anything on him would be a joke. This isn't the type of person you build with. Needless to say, I fully expect Isiah to sign him to a ridiculous contract which some people will love because it'll be expiring some time in the future.

Truly horrible idea. Kwame is tall, but so are a lot of people. As an NBA baller, he's a bust. It's not going to work out for him - very much like TT, he's going to be a syron song for a lot of GM's, but never a great or even good player.

Do you know how many 20+ point games this guy had since he joined NBA seasons ago?

3

He had 3 20 point games in 2003-2004 season, and that's it. They say that MJ really killed this guy's confidence & competitiveness, but he was not known for that to begin with. He was just a soft player with POTENTIAL. People say that big men takes time to grow, but I have not seen anything positive from this guy, no sign or flashes of brilliance like I saw in Eddie Curry. His stats & his attitude has declined considerably this year.

Both Curry and Brown are not good defensive players/rebounders/shot blockers, but Curry is turning into a legit scorer down low. Brown? I think he will only bring negatives to this already struggling franchise. I'd much prefer that Isiah go after guys like Swift, Gadzuric, or Ilgauskas. No thanks to K. Brown...

I'd prefer to sign Chris Andersen to the full MLE, but I fully expect Isiah to chase Kwame. Kwame's ceiling is higher of course, and Isiah probably thinks he can pull another JOneal with Mark Aguirre teaching him a few post moves. We'll see.

I would give Kwame the LLE, not the MLE.

Then let him sign with one of them.

I'd take Chris Anderson over Kwame in a second. We don't need more guys with "potential" and no heart. We need guys with lots of heart. Plus Anderson would bring some white whistles.

Brown full MLE day 1, yowza! Don't know if Im that brave. It would have to be like a four year deal with a second year team option; just to be on the safe side.

Vote me in - full MLE. Can't compare him to TT because TT gets franchise-player salary. This guy's the age of someone just graduating college, if that.

Btw, whoever mentioned Stephon Jackson, I don't think he got to Indy till after Zeke was gone.

i would trade KT for Kwame in a sign & trade (that way, we unload KT's contract while taking on one in Kwame)...not interested in adding on another full length MLE contract w/o unloading 1 first...we have enough longterm contracts on our books, & Kwame comes w/a ton of question marks as it is...while i agree that it's a decent risk to take on a player as young as Kwame who has upside, but the questions surrounding his heart & dedication to the game raises too many flags to ignore.

that way, you still have the MLE to sign a guy like Gadzuric or Chris Anderson, & the #8 pick to take a guy like Warrick, & you have an entirely rebuilt & revamped frontcourt for next season.

Would they want Kurt? They already have Haywood, Etan Thomas, and Ant Jamison as PF/Cs. Maybe they would want JYD as primarily an SF with occasional minutes at PF? They probably wouldn't want either, though.

I gurantee you that Kwame isn't on Isiah's radar. The guy Isiah is probably looking at is Big Z.

Nah, he definitely is. More so than the Chris Andersens of the world, for better or worse.
