we trade at least 2 of these guys; Malik, JYD, KT, Sweetney. Unless this guy is Andrew Bogut, I promise you that no rookie will get playing time. You really think a coach fighting for his job in NY is going to play a rookie in front of vets who know how to play and play hard? I don't think so. It's not a good thing (That he needs to be fighting for his job in the first place) but it's the way things have worked in NY the past couple of years. Anyone who thinks Trevor would have received an ounce of playing time if Allan, Penny, (At least somewhat for those 2) TT and Jamal were healthy throughout the season are flat out naive. He would have gotton NONE, and he should consider himself very very lucky. Heck, lets say we draft a guy like Webster, Houston comes into camp relatively healthy, and we keep Jamal and Marbury, and Trevor comes improved. No chance Webster gets playing time, unless Penny falls off the face of the Earth. It's the way things work in NY and there is almost nothing IT can do about it, b/c a coach (Unless he is Phil Jackson or Pat Riley) will always have his job in jepeordy in NY. This is the type of environment that has been created by we the fans, the media and the past 2 GMs. No stability, no faith, patience and no playingtime for the rooks.

I agree with you somewhat. Sean May is easily as good or better than any Knick frontcourt player, probably better, and there are guys like Simien Turriaf that are right up there, and if you want to go a 7 footer who needs seasoning than a Splitter or a Blatche, but I dont see these guys RIGHT now getting much if any time.

the problem with drafting May is the composition of our team, we cant do it. we just have to much $$$ and roster cluster to even consider it.

I don't see the Knicks as waiting on anyone. Thats why Ive gone over to the side of Hakim, Granger and even still Martell Webster because he has the best stroke in the draft, and there is no doubt he can play right now off the bench.

there are different approaches to this, obviously the Bulls model was quite good this year. with the knicks, a guy like josh smith would not have gotten the time he had with atlanta, but maybe a Webster would get what Ariza had, 15 minutes behind someone

taft, sometimes i like him, sometimes I dont if you combined Taft's body with Frye's game and fundamentals, then you have something serious

I have no doubt that there are guys entering the draft that are much better than the guys we have, but that's not the point. The point is that the staff is going to want to go with the veterans who actually know the game, play hard and wont make many mistakes. They don't want an inexperienced rookie to mess things up.

On a sidenote, I still think I'd be thrilled to have a Warrick type player. But I am also interested in Webster (Unless Green falls in our laps.)

Sean May is NOT that good, I'd say he probably isn't even as good as Sweetney, and sweetney isn't very good either. The way he 'dominated' in the tournament was how sweetney played every day. I know you aren't saying to draft May but I don't think in the NBA he will be any better than the knicks current 4s.

The first thing that Isiah should consider even before drafting any young player is how to get rid of the 10 PFs that we currently have in our roster. Kurt and Sweetney in my opinion can't coexist. I am sorry, I was never a fan of Kurt Thomas, and I will never be one. I want him out of town as soon as possible. We need to clean house at the PF position. I love Sean May and I think that he can provide us with a lot more than TT, Sweet, or Kurt can combined

I disagree totally. I think Kurt and Sweetney co exist fine. They both compliment eachother nicely. One stays downlow, one works around the perimeter to set picks and take shots, and they play fine together. How do they not co exist?

your right he won't get any playing time until some of our big men are traded.

These trades might happen during the draft or towards the end of the season when we trade T.Thomas and Penny.

Personally I don't care who gets traded out of our big man as long as it means that they will become bench/backups. None of the big men we have are really starters.

neither is a reliable option inside for marbury. Maybe Sweetney can be if he loses 30LBS but thats a BIG if.

You can get buy with that tandem if you're Center is Bogut but most likely it wont be so we'll have to do the next best thing and draft the best frontcourt player available(Taft) and find a cheap shotblocking/rebounding Center.
