seriously. we are handcuffed cap wise. we have very little flexibility. trading expiring deals will return flawed players that other teams are looking to dump. barring winning the lottery and getting lucky and drafting a franchise player, i can't see how we can really build a championship level team until 07/8 at the earliest. before this season and when isiah got hired, i thought we would be challenging for 50+ wins by 05/06 but it looks like i'll be 2 years off.

my only expectations now for this team is to keep getting as many draft picks as possible, KEEPING THEM AND USING THEM, and letting these overpaid soft players just expire. no more trades unless it's for the same size contract for the same years or less.

what are your expectations within the next 3 years?

I'd be happy if we could build a young core like Chicago has. A core that's founded on young, long, athletic bigs who set a defensive tone, with quality guards to score. We have the quality guards.

If we have a good foundation and a future, I'd be happy just to make the playoffs in three years. I'd rather wait three years and make the playoffs with a REAL team that has a chance to get better than some old, veteran team squeaking in with no chance to get out of the first round.

3 years? Not at the current pace.

Change is inevitable, so I am hopeful.

sounds about right to me...i don't think this team will be a serious contender for at least another 3 years minimum barring a miracle trade or draft this offseason or next.

If NBA Live 2005 trades were possible in real live, we would have a great team next season. I've made some great trades in Dynasty mode... Ohh well...

Without a plan, I doubt we can build a decent team for next season. If we keep the same coach, we stay the same team without an identity. If we keep making trades for some good players that may never work as a team together, whats the point of making trades? If Isiah says one thing and does another... So far he has many picks, but also many terrible contracts he can't blame Layden for.

Anyway, I still believe anything is possible. The right trades at the right time, along with great draft selections right could turn into something good in 2 or three years. The thing is, we have had GMs that have always made the wrong decisions. Can Isiah change that? Hopefully, because its so difficult to be a Knicks Fan lately...
