I know I'm good for one of these a week but...

I have been doing some rsearcch on why i thik we should get him.

1. Ernie Gunfeld offered him 4 years 30 million. I definitely respect his eye for talent, the fact that he wants Kwame on that team says alot to me, especially in light of him not breaking out.

2. He isn't at ease there and I believe it is effecting his play. Kwame Brown gets booed everytime he touches the rock. He had to publicly ask the fans to stop booing him. Tey had huge hopes in him as their #1 overall and he hasn't lived up to it. He is visibly uncomfortable playing there and when he makes a mistake or 2 the coach pulls him because the booing is too much.

3. Potential. He has potential to be an at least decent atheletic PF, or perhaps a very good star quality PF. Although he'd proly play C if we got him, I feel his position is PF and he'd be a good young atheltic pickup. I'd offer Ewing a front office job and make them live together. Teach kwame how to compensate for small hands. Teach him to play in the post.

4. A Sign & Trade for Sweets and JYD could possibly get it done as they don't have any viable low-post options and sweets and JYD are georgetown products, respected by the city.

5. He showed what he could do against us. I know our frontline is horrible, but he looked good (does anybody disagree?). He showed a nice array of moves and shooting.

6. We need youth, height, and atheleticism, AND we need to cut down on the PF's on our team, A move for Kwame could get both of those things done.

EG won't do it unless it involves our no 1, IMHO.

I am not sure if I agree with you Killa. Although I like Ernie, he is getting old. I dont want to take on a responsibility like Kwame Brown. He is probably the biggest disappointment after Olowakandi in the last 10 years.

The verdict is not quite out on Kwame just yet. He is still a young buck, and was poised to break out this year were it not for the injury. At the very least he is a young tall, atheletic role player. But at best, he is somethign special. I feel like we have the personnel in Isiah and aguirre to make him a better player.

As far as that #1 goes, I'd give up a future #1, to give up this years would be foolish because we are in the lotto, we shouldn't be in future years.

He is another reclamation project. If he didnt work out in DC,I doubt he would work out here and if he cant take the pressure in Washington I seriously doubt he can take it in NY.

Id be happier if Isiah found a euro big man on his trip and used one of our lower picks to get him.At least he would have a clean slate in the NBA and none of the baggage, not to mention alot cheaper.

you might be right Killa. This might have been his year but I still dont think he will be anything special. Like Kwaz said,

We'll have to wait and see. I know I'd make a move for him, but we'll have to see if I was right or night. Lets see how he performs in the playoffs.

BTW, Kwazi's argument against Kwame is the same one that can be used against the big 3 in washington. They were reclamation projects and now they're in the playoffs playing great.

I disagree, none of them were considered busts and have had good stats for most of their careers.

im pretty sure they want to keep kwame, on top of it they offered him 7.5mm a year, thats not like spitting in his face for what he has accoplished. yes hes got a lot of upside, but he also pulls houdini acts. if he doesnt want 4 yrs 30mm, that probably means he wants significantly more, what could you pay him? is someone going to offer him 5 years 50mm?
I think that wash will not trade him and will look to exploit his injuries and poor play. KT is not a good fit on that team, he do much better with an atletic PF like Howard, Garnett or next to Ming.

So what does wash want from us, or what could we ofer wash, when it seems pretty clear that wash wants to retain him anyway?

what about KT and pick #30 for Kwame at 5 years $50mm.
Sign Steven Hunter (4 years $16mm) and extend Ariza (4 years $10mm)
Draft Warrick #8 and your *core* of players looks like this:
Marbury/Crawford
Ariza/whatever (Houston for 15 minutes, Jackson, 2nd round pick)
Warrick/JYD
Sweetney/Rose
Kwame/Hunter/Butler
Penny and TT can expire at the end of the year and go away

Your long and athletic with size at every spot with a couple PFs than hang out in the paint and bang bodies.

We overpay (as usual) but at least it fits a plan and style of play

if you are an RFA, the team really has you by the cahones. They could say, test your value, and he could do that. I dont see a Knick fit. We could end up giving them a package of ariza sweetney and pick 8, and anyone of those players could be better than kwame by himself. KT--would you want KT for wash? I know I wouldnt be intrested, maybe Minnesota houston orlando if we took back an older player and then they through us a pick. I think what they want to do in Wash is keep the team as is, sign Hughes and get kwame at market value--doesnt that make sense? why do they want something from us?

Kwame is a PF; would he be ready to be the Knick's center, and not only that, but the starter?

I'd want him at PF and big Z at center. and whoever we draft can play off the bench. then we can trade some of these pf's strictly for cap space and/or picks.

Well, I don't know how we gould get both players and also dealing at least two or three of our PFs, but if it can be done, make it! But I would rather have Dalembert than Big Z...
