I just saw him on NBA TV on that show "Basketball International".

On sites like NBADRAFT.net and DraftCity.com they compare him to Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Imagine Big Z 40 lbs under weight and I would agree. The kid is skinny simple and plain. They showed a few clips where he was getting bumped and it was knocking him completely off balance. They got this kid listed at 240lbs but I wouldn't be suprised if he was 220lbs.

He seems to have a soft touch around the basket and he likes to dunk. Nothing explosive or powerful in his movement. Nothing amazing about his talent from what I saw. They did show him running the floor and he kinda moves like Gasol or Big Z...which isn't saying much because both guys run like they are gonna collapse anyway.

Simone Sandri, the european co-host of the show, was excited about how good he was but when Spero Dedes the other co-host brings up the fact he is averaging 1pt and 1 reb for his current team....Sandri couldn't really explain why. The clips that they were running on Martynas Andriuskevicius were of his under 18 year old and under league.

Did anybody else check this show out?

How about some of our European posters? what's your take on this kid?

You're relying too much on Isiah scouting Europe. The only reason he did it as all GMs do at some point in the seasonis to cover all the bases. That is his job as GM.

It doesn't mean he's not paying attention to the best players in the world who play in the U.S.

nah, I am not saying that at all. Isiah is a very smart man, he knows that we are lacking in the talent level here in the States. The last 4 years, all of the big men that have made an impact in the league were from outside the U.S. He is doing the right thing by scouting in Europe. When I said "European players" I didn't mean just Europe. Africa currently doesn't have a league that we can actually talk about, most of the big names from Africa and Asia are all playing in the European league. Believe me, I know.

you have to project here a little bit, it's very hard to say this 18 yo kid will be a man next month. it may not be until he is 21-22. but then you may have a dimnant 7-3 player who has very long arms and is a very good athlete. I'd rather take a chance on the gold if i cant move up on the draft than settle for maybe something a tad more certain with less upside.

Briggs what do you mean by dominant bigman in the NBA? Amare and even Illgaukus or Rasho Nesterovic dominant?

I like those cats that you have named, but besides dunking the ball, Amare didn't possess the skills that he has now. He had a huge impact and you can definitely attribute his success to Marburry's willingness to expose his athleticism..

amare stoudemire comes along once every 15 years. oops we missed our chance. i like gerald green but unless we get up into the lottery, we arent touching him. I just dont think you pass on a guy with his size and with what he has shown. Yao Ming was 22 when he came to the nBA--no one is going to get the chance to have him develop into a man--they must project from here. You are talking 7-3 with long arms and excellent athletic ability. No one you named has that, only BIG Z has the same size.

Let me just say again that I have no problem taking a SF/PF like a Dirk, Gasol, Peja, kirilenko who hopefully Splitter and Vazquez can become.

But I have a serious problem with taking a guy like Martynas in lottery when no true foreign center other than Yao & Illgaukus are worth drafting over the next amare, bosh, okafur, howard, etc
