Let's say that... we have a 7th pick and that we buy a pick in 15-20 range. We also have the 30th pick, s we now have 3 first round picks. There has been no trades so the team roster is still unchanged. Let's also say that we picked Gerald Green with the 7th pick. If the following names were available with the 15-20 pick, who would you go for? Why?
Charlie Villanueva
Hakeem Warrick
Shelden Williams
Johan Petro
Andray Blatche
Channing Frye
Jarret Jack
Joey Graham

I chose Petro because I want the best athletic big left on the board and of the choices you gave me I think it's him.

Warrick.

I see him as the best prospect. I like his defensive toughness, athleticism, and the fact that he is a winner. Knicks will need 1-2 yrs to turn the team around, and I can wait while Warrick develops his body & mid/long-range jumper.

with the 30th pick, we grab a 6-10+ project.

I'd wet my pants if we had both green & warrick on the wings with Marbury pushing the ball in 2006/7 and Craw coming off the bench.

I don't know a lot about Petro. Is he really more athletic than Warrick?

I agree. I said it the other day. Imagine walking away with both Green and Warrick. That would be run and gun with the best of them!

or even villanueva or Petro or frye

I chose Hakim Warrick but if the chances of him being available that low are very slim. I can see Hakim following the same career path as Richard Jefferson; first 2 years in the league he plays and scores most of his points off his awesome athleticism, blocks shots, plays good defense and then develops a jumpshot in his 3rd or 4th year. If Isiah walked away with Gerald Greene and Hakim Warrick then we should be kissing the ground that Isiah walks on.

Channing Frye... 6'11, long, with a post game.. decent passer. He really blossomed at the end of this year.

I agree, I like the way that Frye progressed from the beginning of the year to where he finished but I still think that using a lotto pick or a early mid rounder is just a bit too early for him. In the lottery you HAVE to take the best player available and not draft based on need and Isiah would be doing that if the Knicks acquired something like pick 14 or 15 and took Frye. I would have no problem with taking Frye at 30 but chances are he's not going to be around then... its a conundrum.

if we can do trade that has been discussed here countless times before by sending Kurt to Houston for Spoon and the 23rd pick.

Then I would consider taking Frye there, but the thing to consider is that outside of the lottery we have no idea where guys like Petro, Frye, Blatche will go.

Hopefully they will all participate in rookie camp so that we get a better idea who is the best non-lottery player available. I don't want anything to do with a guy who refuses to workout with teams like Darko did. Frye had a heck of a tournament but I still need to see how he stacks up against the other centers available.

I have only seen clips of both of them so I would say either warrick or Petro. I think its really the same either way, their big and atheletic as hell.

Blatche or Petro. I doubt it will happen, though.

I chose Petro also, but is he a shot blocker???? We need a shot blocker bad. We can't, I repeat, we can not afford to have the front line that we had this year as our starters. I won't mind keeping Sweetney as our PF, but Kurt can not be our Center....We need a bruiser in the middle, someone that will put fear in people's mind. We need a Lambeer type of player, but a little more athletic..I think that we can get it in this draft this season.

Channing Frye seems to have most of what is needed for this team and at least has the experience of major college ball. I would go with Petro second.

We need to invest at least 2 draft picks on big boys because that is what our needs are. I hope that by next season we will be amongst the biggest teams in the league. We need to draft a taller SF to replace TT, but whoever that is will have to be able to defend, block shots, and rebound consistantly.

Petro because he is a big, but we still aren't in the days when we know everything about prospects- that will come in like 2 or three weeks- so, I'd wait..

Yeah I say Petro. Warrick is 6-8 and atheletic, sounds a little like Ariza except hes big enough too play the 4. We need size not undersize and atheleticism. Petro is 7 feet and is at least as atheletic as Petro. We need atheleticism at his size.

Warrick is going to drop quickly because most scouts believe he is smaller than what is reported w/o sneakers. Is tweener problem is still a problem. I think Petro will jump up the boards quickly because he is a shot blocker right now but just as freakish of an athlete as Warrick and he is a 7 footer. Reminds people of Dalembert but with less experience. I am always scared of those guys that changed from soccer to bb because of serious height issues. Some work out Ewing and Hakeem (but these guys were pushed into basketball at a more early age). Others that I don't think that worked out so well Olowokandi, Moiso, and Oyedeji. I think these guys were like near 7 footers who were(are) gifted ahtletes that did not live up to the hype.

I still want Green drafted if available. When are we going to get another chance to draft a potential superstar? Next year? I have a feeling that we will start making the playoffs again but not go very far. This may be our last chance for some time.
