give me Al Harrington over Fat Albert, Crazy Eyes & Fugazy anyday.

Heck give me a bud light over those 3 if you want to know the truth, but why settle? just because Harrington is Slightly better and yes he is slightly better, does not mean we should go after him. we need to aspire for better than that.. I see harrington play a lot here in atlanta and I will tell you like briggs put it in another thread.. harrington is a retread.... I think harrington is a good player, I like the kid, but we need to aspire for much better, I am tired of the mediocrity....

Again, put him in the NO thanks club....

right, i forgot...he wants Darius Miles & Zach Randolph instead...those guys oughta put us over the top next year.

man you have one hell of a case of mistaken identity, did I say I want zach randolph and or Darius miles? Although I will take miles over harrington.... Get you chit together man.....

After hearing about the microfracture surgery, I don't think anyone should want Zach

nope; Jason Kidd is the closest example, but his was on a non-weight-bearing part of the bone. I don't think any player who had it on a weight-bearing part of the bone (which I believe Zach did) has been better than about 60 to 70% of what they were before the injury. And that's probably the best case scenario.

djsunyc: what about Jamal Magloire? This guy is a soft shooting center that doesnt have too many post moves. He also isnt that great on defense. Add him to the no thanks club too.

Well he is pretty decent right now, running and jumping, but he is coming off the bench, I'm talking about a young guy playing 30+ minutes.

Kittles' had the surgery and missed the entire 2000 season. The year after he played in all 82 games, and has missed only 17 games in the 3 years since.

Eduardo Najera has missed 58 games over the last two + seasons. Mashburn missed the 2004-05 season, and may have to retire. Kidd and Webber have had it and the recovery is still better than Houston's.

Athletes in other sports that have come back successfully from microfracture surgery are Bruce Smith, Rod Woodson, and Scott Hamilton.

Some on the unsuccessful column are Eric Swann, Terrell Davis, and Andre Wadsworth. The one commonality among those that have responded negatively to the treatment is having multiple injuries and surgeries. Eric Swann had 7 different operations on his knees, and Terrell Davis had surgery twice in 6 months on the same knee.

All in all, I'd say Houston is done playing basketball at a high level.

This is good stuff from yesterday’s Oregonian. The Blazers’ beat writer claims that one of the Blazers players called Sean May a “fat guy,” and that Portland shouldn’t draft him because, “We already have a fat guy”

Kittles is not the emerging star he was before the surgery. Najera was a nonfactor role player before the surgery; it's hard to evaluate the impact of the injury on him now.
I've talked to one of my dad's colleagues who's a sports orthopedist and does microfracture surgery. He's said that he believes the surgery works but you'll never be 100%. It's not even aimed to bring you back to 100%.
To the unsuccessful list (meaning no where near the player they previously were), you can add Penny Hardaway and Chris Webber.
