I view this draft pick as part of the future, not necessarily a big part of next year

Won't be able to score, won't be able to convert from the free throw line. Gets confused on the pick and roll. Gets a seat on the bench.

and what rookie doesn't suffer from these things? Rookie of the year stud Ben Gordan doesn't even start because of his poor defense!

So you're admitting that Bogut won't start?

Uhhh no. Not really. He will make instant impact. He may not start by day one on some teams... very few.. but will be a starter before the the all star break. Foot speed isn't really the mark of a good center. Vertical leap isn't either. The guy is special in other ways. He is the best passer to come out in some time. He understands the game and is an excellent defender. His offense will come. His footwork is good, his coordination is above average, his body has some projection... he will gain 20 lbs. when its all over. Your severly underestimating Bogut.

Is he a better passer than Luke?

On D he gets confused by the pick and roll so he's easy to exploit. Bogut's overrated.

Whats the point? If the Knicks got the #1 pick and selected Bogut, there is no way he wouldn't be in the starting lineup. Same thing with most teams because the league isn't really very rich in good Centers. We are talking about pick #1, and most of them start their career, well, starting. And why do a team in the lottery should bother about starting a young C that can be your franchise guy? No rookie is perfect, they come with their plus and minus, but guys like Bogut will be more about the former.

You're taking it for granted that Bogut deserves to be the #1 pick and then applying reverse logic. He's overrated and he's going to need a couple years to learn to play in the league.

Sorry but, how do you know that? Weren't you the one who a couple of days ago was asking about Bogut to really know who he was? How can you know he is overrated? Like no rookies need a couple of years to learn to play in the league. Still they can help a lot, especially a center to a team that has none. May not be completely NBA ready, but whatever he can give us year 1 will be a great plus...

There's a difference between starting and having an impact, and saying "whatever he can give us will be a big plus." What trevor gives us is a big plus, but he wasn't the number one overall draft pick. The number one overall draft pick should be an obvious impact player.

But shouldn't have to be NBA ready. No player is completely NBA ready, except Lebron, until they really start playing the games. But still their talent can make the impact no matter how much they still have to learn. Bogut as a #1 would definitely have an impact on most of the lottery teams as a starter because he is really talented and a really good center. But we'll find out soon anyway so lets just stick around and watch. Personally, I hope we can get him because a center is just what we most need.

I hope Isiah finds the diamond in the ruff of this draft. But yes, let's wait and see.

I would take Martell Webster over Green at #7. Martell has a MUCH better body (6-7, 230) than Green (6-8, 200) to play on the wing. I think Martell could be a nice power wing player a la Marbury, or Iggy, or Maggette. I haven't seen either play only read scouting reports, but both almost look like can't miss prospects, and that worries me, because the law of averages may kick in and one of them may not work out.

not sure i'd pass up on T-Mac or Vince to get Pau Gasol myself...i say take Green & worry about the frontcourt using trades, the later picks or the MLE...we already have a glut at PF as it is...we need to clear some of those guys out before we bring someone in regardless.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
