THe NBA needs to be protected form itself with guys like Darious MIles. He is overpaid, underskilled Gazy of a man! The NBA created this kind of monster.

I am calling out some that fell for this "act". This is teh poster child for why there should be an age limit. I am so happy we never got this kid! This guy makes ricky davis look good!

Tension erupts on court
Conflict boils over between Darius Miles and Kevin Pritchard, and Ruben Patterson says he wants to be traded

The tension between Darius Miles and Kevin Pritchard broke out into the open Thursday night at the Rose Garden. And Ruben Patterson said he is done with the Trail Blazers for the rest of this season and has requested to be traded before next season.

Miles, apparently miffed at being replaced during a 102-90 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, didn't bother to return to the bench after being taken out with 4:03 left in the first half. Instead, Miles threw his headband into the stands and ran directly to the tunnel and into the locker room.

Assistant coach Tim Grgurich chased after him, and Miles later returned to the bench. Miles said he needed to use the restroom.

Miles started the fourth quarter and scored on a fast-break layup with 8:34 remaining. But during the ensuing timeout, Miles again stood away from the team. Then Miles pulled himself out of the game, walked to the locker room again with 7:28 remaining and did not return. According to a Blazers spokesperson, Miles' sore neck was bothering him again.

"I hurt and came out of the game," Miles said.

Patterson, already upset about his playing time and the team's decision to give younger players more prominent roles, erupted in a postgame tirade and said he's not going to play in the team's final four games of the season.

"I don't want to get into details, but I think I'm gonna sit out these last four games. Because I went through so much for this team and it doesn't seem like these guys want to win here," Patterson said. "And I can't deal with that. I don't know if it's management or what, but it's obvious they want to play the young guys. I'm too good of a player for that. We are out there, trying to play hard and help this team win, and it seems like they don't care."

Miles, who played 11 minutes in the first half, didn't play at all in third quarter and played five minutes in the fourth quarter. In his 16 minutes, he made 2 of 8 shots and scored six points.

"He said his neck was sore," Pritchard, the Blazers' director of player personnel and interim coach, said. "I don't know for sure what was going on. He and I are going to have a little pow-wow and I'm going to find out."

Pritchard and Miles then walked into Pritchard's office, after which shouting was heard.

During the Blazers' first timeout of the third quarter, Miles sat on the bench, away from the team. He stood up but clearly was uninterested during the team's second timeout of the quarter.

Miles thought Pritchard had called his name to enter the game with 3:18 remaining in the third quarter. Miles walked toward the scorers table, but Pritchard said he called for Travis Outlaw to enter the game. Miles wheeled around and walked back to the bench.

Some of the Blazers players were apparently upset with Miles' actions throughout the game. Both Stoudamire and Patterson had animated conversations with Pritchard during the timeout after Miles walked off the court for the final time.

Miles has had his troubles with the Blazers this season. His well-publicized tirade toward former coach Maurice Cheeks in January resulted in a team-imposed two-game suspension. Miles was asked about his standing with the team after the game.

"You'll have to ask (general manager) John Nash and Kevin Pritchard that. I play for the Trail Blazers and I'm supposed to be here for another five years," Miles said. "It's not whether I want to be. But I have a contract for five years, so I'm supposed to be here. I might want to be here, but they might trade me somewhere else."

Patterson said he would welcome a trade, although Blazers President Steve Patterson, after speaking with the forward, said he will be on the flight for tonight's game at Golden State.

"If it's going to be like this, it's no use in me being here," Ruben Patterson said. "It's about winning with me right now. I don't want to be here. They just need to trade me."

Notes:

Shareef Abdur-Rahim led the Blazers with 19 points and 10 rebounds. . . . Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki sat out the game with a sore left shoulder. . . . Patterson has made eight of nine free throws since he missed eight of 10 against Sacramento last Friday. . . . Guard Derek Anderson was dressed and sitting on the bench, but he did not play for the 10th consecutive game. Anderson said his desire to avoid any recurring back pain reduced his chances to "slim" that he would play in any of the Blazers' final four games.

God, i'm glad Isiah didn't trade for that brat...he's the Randy Moss of the NBA...all the talent in the world but an attitude that would make his own mother despise his spoiled bratty ass.

maybe Isiah knew something we didnt. Remember a rumor of Frank + Othella for Miles was going around and that Isiah nixed the deal? I thought he would be crazy to do so... maybe not so much

the same thing would happen here if the knicks decided to bench KT and play the younger guys. it already happened with Penny. It'sonly natural. IMO who cares what they think, ship them out its about what's best for the franchise not them individually!

Maybe certain deals (or rejected deals) that don't make sense at the time do make sense later.

You have to give Herb and Isiah credit that even in a crappy losing season, no one has gone on a tirade and there haven't been any incidents. The guys are just trying their best most nights and not complaining.

i'd love to add Ruben to this team...i've been proposing trade ideas to get him for the past 2 years on various forums...he's EXACTLY the type of player i want on this team...old school, plays hard, tough, no BS...he would have fit nicely on the Riley Knicks of the early 90s.

too bad we have no contracts that would be a match...KT wouldn't interest them since they're going w/the youth movement...Mo T's contract is the closest fit, but you'd have to take back some filler from POR to make it work.

Do we want Ruben taking away minutes from Ariza?

who do you think is a better player? ruben, malik or JYD.

I personally think we need a lot more than the cancerous Ruben to turn this mess around

We wouldn't have been able to get Jamal Crawford if we'd included Frank and Othella in a Miles deal. Jamal has his weaknesses, but I'd rather have him in a long-term deal than have Miles.

i think they're all pretty much comparable...what do we need? perimeter defense...what does Ruben bring? perimeter defense...what do we have too much of? role playing PF's...what's so difficult to fathom as to how Ruben would help this team?

Boo to read, and They loved the commercials! Funny stuff:

Miles to fans: 'You boo because you read'
On Sunday, Darius Miles was booed when he entered the game, and then he flapped his arms at the crowd as if to say, "louder"... apparently egging the boo-birds on.

Then he said this after the Blazers victory: "Everything The Oregonian say about me is not true. They make you look at me so bad. You've got some people that understand where I come from. You've got some people that take it like that. So that's why some people boo. You boo, because you don't know. You boo because you read."

Bonzi?

That you?

More Miles from the locker room
Another reason you come to this blog... un-edited Darius Miles quotes:

"I'm still one of the most popular guys, whether they boo or cheer. Every billboard, on TV, the commercials. When you see those commercials, that's me. Everybody loves these commercials. Everybody loved the commercials when I first got here. So what's so different now. It's because there's a certain paper saying I'm acting funny because I've got money now. I've been making a million dollars before I even signed a contract this year. It's not about money. It's about us winning, and you're trying to blame everything on me like it's me. I'm not the one who told Cheeks he was fired. Y'all trying to make it seem like I'm Kobe or something. Like I've got a say so. I ain't got no say so.

"It's bad when people write stuff down and then people take you a certain way. That's the only reason people boo. People don't know me. You know what I'm saying?"
