interesting update from bskball.com:
The NCAA moved a little closer to reality yesterday when its management council passed on a rule for the board of directors to consider, a rule that would allow high school players to be drafted and still play in college. The rule would still prohibit a player from signing an NBA contract or retaining an agent, but basically high schoolers, would be able to declare themselves for the draft, go through the draft process and see where they end up... if its agreed they don't like their draft position or the team that drafts them has no plans to use them, they could go to college, and still be eligible to play- again providing they don't sign a deal. If this rule is adopted, its expected that more high schoolers on the bubble will cloud the draft process, but it also means that college programs would have a better shot at landing the Kwame Brown's and Eddy Curry's of the high school crop, who would maybe choose to groom in the NCAA rather than on the end of NBA bench. This rule still does not remove the lure of NBA lottery riches, but it does offer alternatives, and signifies something of a shift in NCAA thinking.
