I knew he was playing well, but I didn't know he was playing *this* well.
27 PPG, 6 RPG, 5 APG.

He's also been a lot tougher. He's taken a number of hard hits, gottten banged up, and bounced back up and kept playing. If he'd been with the Nets all season putting up these #s, I think the Nets would be well above .500 and he'd be a top 5 MVP candidate.

I agree. But I think a lot of that is Kidd's leadership and demanding that everyone plays as all out as he does. I don't Vince would have done as well on the Knicks.

that's a good point...no one is accountable on this Knicks' squad...Marbury seems content to get his #'s & doesn't want to get on any other players for fear of being disliked by his teammates it seems to me...i think he tried getting on them earlier this season (like he used to yell at Nazr when he'd miss assignments, etc.), but it seems right after that argument he had w/KT in the huddle, he hasn't spoken up at all...he seems to have accepted the fact that these guys don't care enough for themselves to try hard, so why should he care? i don't fault Marbury for this though, since these guys are the ones who gave up, not him.

My question to you is, how long does it take him to get bored with the Nets?
He's given me no reason to believe he can stay motivated and put up those numbers for an extended period of time. Either way, he does deserve credit for how he's playing in the mean time. He's just so frustrating!

It was like a bad marriage in Toronto. Both sides were to blame. A lot of Toronto fans here where I live have extreme anger toward Vince and can't appreciate the other side--that Vince expressed frustration with the management for many years (and it was an organization that anyone should have been frustrated with) and demanded many trades (which like it or not, is typically ignored nowadays). His views were always ignored. It's like a wife/husband who thinks he/she was the perfect partner and the spouse was awful at this, that, and everything else.

Leadership is important skill for a pg to have. Marbury is a very content ball player he reminds everyone his numbers. If I hear 20-8 again my head is gonna explode. Magic, Jordan, Bird, Stockton never use to talk about their numbers but our boy Marb's goes out of his way to remind people of his number. to hell with that number has anyone looked at his winning percentage as a player. Its down right horrible.

Kidd is an awesome leader he makes everyone better and Carter is reaping the benefits of Kidds leadership. I like Stephon because he really is working with trash on the court. The KNicks are a collection of backup players thats the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I really am tired of fooling myself with this team there are no superstars on it. one good player thats Marbury and two poorly developed players in Ariza and Sweetney (highly doubt they make any type of impact next year) and one decent back up role player Rose and the rest is trash. Lets see what IT can do as far as i'm concerned I think the Knicks would be wise to drop him because I think he is fooling people more than helping the team. He is adding flash and dash to the team but that doesn't mean it will produce wins.

This is the make or break season for Isiah. If he makes the necessary draft pick and trades to improve this woeful team My feeling is he is going to add more crap to the team asides for the pick that is if he keeps it.

Always, you have forgotten 20-8 comment made by him. I'm one of three in NBA history averaging 20 and 8.

I have always respected the Nets the last few years. I know a full blooded knick fan not supposed to, but I was 13 years old and celebrated the last ABA game which the nets came back from 17 pts to win their second championship, and the last of the ABA history. We talking Dr. J and company!

Back then, you could root for both! It was cool, and those who turned their nose up at them missed some great hoop!

I admire JKidd for what he does on the court, he recovered well from his surgery and is carrying that skeleton roster.

Vince is proving he is a star. It may last, who knows, but he does have some good years under his belt, and we have seen the Toronto franchise is not the most solid.

Thorn is to be commended and he could rebuild this team in very short order for next year.

I wish this kind of management one day for our team!

I don't remember him talking about it; I remember a lot of other people talking about it, though. One comment about one stat doesn't strike me as a big deal, though. It's not like he brings it up at every interview.

I don't believe one bit that its Jason Kidd who is holding Carter in check. Carter went to NJ wanting to prove everyone wrong about him from the door. Carter allways was a great talent who lost all his motivation and faith in Toronto and got it back when he went to NJ.

Its not like Carter never was this type of player and Kidd is making him reach new levels of greatness. I could understand putting young guys like Jefferson, Scalabrine, Kristic under his wing and help them become better players. But Carter was a great player before he came to NJ who is now well into his prime.

good point, but Kidd just makes that ball just ooze so nice into the right places and creates a rythem that is oh so nice.

Thorn did real well getting the players to creat a chemisty to flow.

Isiah trying to watch betamax movies in a VHS machine. Sheet just don't work!

I agree with NewYork. Before he was injured he was putting up very similar numbers to this. Carter totally has the talent to play like this, with or without Jason Kidd. When healthy, Jefferson isn't in his league. Problem is keeping him healthy and making sure he doesn't turn into a little prick.

Vince never like the leading role. He is not a follow me type of leader, he is more like a you lead and I will follow. That boy has a lot to prove, so he is doing his utmost to show the league that he is still Vince...Keep in mind that dude is a lot more mature now..You can hear it when he speaks to the media.

Raptors fans are pretty funny in their razzing of Vince:

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/04/16/sports/basketball/16nets.html

Security was increased at the Air Canada Center, especially behind the Nets' bench. Raptors fans were ready, too. Scores of them wore purple-and-white baby bibs with Carter's No. 15 that had been provided by a sports-talk radio station.

There were dozens of signs in the stands razzing Carter. One read Half-man, Half-Season - a reference to Carter's penchant for injury during his six-plus seasons in Toronto. Another fan mocked Carter by using crutches and wearing fake head bandages.

hahahaha, that's a good one. Didn't the half man half a season come from Charles Barkely though?
