like the Mcdyess fiasco and bring in a Jamal Magliore or a Mike Finley or even a Jalen Rose?

Why do i say this? because with no playoffs in sight, Ariza Butler and Sundov dont get any burn. If they wont play young players now, when nothing really matters, do you think they are going to bank a high caliber asset on another?

Like I said, I don't think it matters if Layden or Isiah is here, it's going to be the same sht. They have a pressure to make the playoffs and they try to take VERy expensive short cuts.

This is the worst managed team in any sport--try to find me one worse

Ultimately Isiah is the personell boss. If he says Herb, can we see Butler Ariza and Sundov consistently the last 5 games so I can take a good look at them during real game conditions? Nope , run Marbury into the ground, play a hurt TT, play all of the expensive vets, and STILL get embarrassed.
Why should a fan have any confidence?
you put a lot of time into being a fan, and these fcks only care about somehow making money obligations for their own inept management.

If we do somehow trade for a sht vet, a retread, I hope they go 28-54 next year.

I said this in the game thread, but I'm thinking Isiah is letting Herb use these games as his audition for the head coaching job next season. This way, if Herb doesn't get the job, at least he can say he got to coach the games the way he wanted to coach them.

Why would Isiah want to do this? The players seem to like Herb, most of the team plays hard for him, if they got the feeling Isiah was mandating ROOKIES got their PT, they'd be pissed. And as we all know, we're stuck with guys like Rose, TT, KT, JYD and MoT. So, it keeps the vets happy, let's Herb think he has a shot and Isiah goes off to his fortress of solitude to scour the draft ranks for talent and think about who he wants to coach the team.

I think Isiah loves young talent too much, and has had success with Ariza, to give up on what is clearly a deep draft. Hakim Warrick will come into this league a polished player. I do think Isiah will look at that when picking, he'll look for guys who can make an impact (hopefully he'll think about defense). I think guys like Fran Vasquez and Warrick and maybe Splitter are who he will realistically look at - they've played well at the highest levels you can play at outside the NBA and they've done it for several years. (for this reason, I hope he takes another long look at Frye).

I don't think he'll trade the pick. At the same time, I think he will pursue Jalen Rose, and you know what, the guy has talent and his skills and more importantly his attitude would mesh with Marbury. I say, if you can convince Toronto to dump Jalen and throw in a second round pick for Penny (saves them $17 million), that is money I would spend. I wish we'd spent the $18 million from the Mo T trade on Jalen instead.

I don't think It will trade the picks briggs, but I can see why you panic now, I mean why not play the young guys? there is no reason now, why our starters are playing these many minutes, and Herb can audition for his job using the young guy. you can judge a good coach without looking at the wins and loss column, especially considering the present circumstances.....

my sentiment exactly.

if they trade the picks for vet, i hope that the vet gets hurt, and the team plays SOOOO BAD no one will go to the garden and that Dolan will have no choice but to sell the team. if the picks are traded, it will show that this fcking owner & management does not deserve decent fans investing $$$ and heart.

I agree. I dont think they trade the picks ESPECIALLY not for any of those players. If you can get an all-star talent, it would make sense though. Elton Brand, Jermaine O'Neal, screw that lotto pick if we can do something on that level.

I don't think he can do that, reallisticaly (sorry for the spelling).

Fans are already doubting, the honeymoon is clearly over and he's hiding right now.

So unless he does an absolute freaking bargain, something everybody would agree about, he'd put himself in great danger by trading the pick.

I actually say no.. that he isnt going to trade the pick(s) but he may trade *the* pick.

I could certainly see him trading the #1 for a veteran player, but I would only put that at like 40/60 and here's my thinking:

He did draft Damon, Camby and Tmac. Thats two ROYs and one star. Add Ariza to that now and I think he has a lot of confidence in himself to get impact players in the draft.

Isiah doesnt strike me as a guy that is ok with having his time wasted. Its been well documented that he's done a lot of scouting personally and I suspect that alone will drive him to produce something tangible in this draft.

I also think its very possible he's hiding Ariza or even Butler somewhat. Not likely but it certainly wouldnt suprise me. He's a snake... I would think him more likely to covet his young players rather than advertise them, at least until they are signed long term or he's made up his mind in that regard

I thought you thought he was going after Warrick?

There's nothing magical about picks. If he gets a young player via trade who's better than any player available in the draft where we're picking, I'm fine with that.

mcdyess fiasco?!?!?!

oh what a short memory you have briggs...

mcdyess gave us both frank AND lampe as part of that deal. and we then turned frank AND lampe into marbury AND crawford...(and add about $150 mil in the process but that's besides the point).

so mcydess fiasco you say....i think not [/sarcasm]

the reason i'm scared is b/c i have ZERO idea what isiah's plans are and that's not a good thing. the plan should be to get younger, more athletic and build a core of < 26 year old players. isiah did get some younger guys here, but he also brought in older overpaid guys. the "future core" aren't getting the minutes they need now so what direction is this team going in? scared is an understatement.

I would be happy if we trade our picks to get Shaquille O'Neal.

hey Briggs if you said Zach Randolph for our #1 pick then you would actually scare people. I don't think anyone thinks Isiah is stupid enough to trade out #1 for Magloire/Finely

As previously mentioned on this site, in the press, and on last nite game. It is Herb's call. Herb is playing to win and Isiah is honoring his promise to not to interfere with how Herb coaches the team. I want him to step in too but I respect the fact that he is honoring his promise. Who needs JVG to get back on his soapbox and start talking about how Herb was forced to play guys he did not want to play. It looks like Isiah has stayed out of the locker room too. No more complaints from KT. Funny Isiah takes heat when he is doing what "everyone" wants the guy to do.

Don't really see how you think he is hiding. He is at every single game, he still gives more interviews then any GM in Knick history. LOL, as far as the fans are concerned, MSG announced another sell out last night. His boss doesn't seem to have that big of a problem with him. Told him that he is willing to pay Jackson or whoever a Wizful of money.

Rest assure of one thing, Isiah will never trade his picks this year. If he decides to do that, it will be for two reasons: get closer to the first 3 picks or to get rid of a bad contract...

The more I think about it, the more I think he'll try to chase guys like Artest, Odom and Randolph with the pick. But the more I think about it, the more I think he'll end up with Curry.
