I am pretty sure that by now almost all of you remember when he proclaimed himself as the best PG in the game right now...Marb is pushing himself to show the league that he is what he said that he is. To be the best, he feels like he has to be on the court whether or not his is winning or loosing. I know that Herb is not dumb enough to continue to play Marb 45 min per game, and I also know that Isiah is not crazy enough not to tell Herb to shut Marb down. However folks, the truth is that it is all of Marburry's decision. If he decides to shut himself down today, that is exactly what will happen, but he is trying to earn his young team-mates' respect, he is trying to justify that he is the best PG in the game, and he is trying to earn his captaincy

nice opinion piece...however, I disagree.

I just think he's trying to win the game and doesn't want to come out...maybe it's the coney island in him.

Talking to some of his fans from back in his high school days, they all applaud him and hope he plays 48 minutes every game.

i think the real reason why he is playing 40+ minutes is because he is all heart.

Ut oh...i think I'm feeling the "get off my knicks' back" rants coming...martin...prepare to lock boards. =)

don't get me wrong, I do agree with you about Marb's desire to win, but there are some extra added reasons or motivations behind the 40+ minutes...one of them is to prove to his peers that he is worthy of the paycheck, and another to show that he is a warrior....That is a great way to show leadership...Next year, Marb will have to carry the load at the leadership position, because guys like Houston and Kurt may not be around to undermine him, therefore, Craw, Ariza, Sweetn,whoever we draft, and JB will be his followers.

well, i like the fact that he is like 3rd in consecutive games played, so that looks good...but why he is playing as many minutes could have something to do with Penny and h20 gone and that cba guy as our only back up pg...i don't even think we have a back up SG.

Could that explain it?

Well, I don't think that is the case, because Crawfford can play the point also....Marb just wants to justify his leadership and that is it...

Didn't Herb tell the press in the last two post game interviews that he is playing the guys that he thinks will give him the best shot to win games. When asked about Marbury he flat out said, Marbury had to play more minutes because of Penny's injury. He pointed out that Crawford's minutes are up too. This is all Herb. He wants to win these games badly. To now and try to put it Marbury is a real reach. Marbury has rested in the past under other coaches.
