The Hawks have 20 mill to work with this off season and they already have a few guys to man the swing man position in Josh Smith and Josh Childress. Does that mean that Al Harrington is avalable?

They'll have the most ping pong balls in the draft and The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Atlanta could be targeting a big man namely Curry, Chandler and Dalembert.

To me, all signs point to Al Harrington possibly being available.

The Knicks have the draft picks and Penny Hardaway to play with especially if Atlanta wants to try and stay under the cap for next year also.

What do ya'll think? I think Al and Marbs could be a nice tandem.

we have nothing to offer cap wise that makes sense. I'm not giving up the high #1. He's had a decent year.. the best I would do is something like TT + the Spurs 06 #1

I like Al, but I don't think he's really a need. I don't see his offense as being any better than Mo Taylor's or Tim Thomas. Al makes a lot mistakes that lead me to believe his bball IQ is low.

I'd pursue him if he was super cheap, but I wouldn't give up a lotto pick for him.

Atlanta would be under the cap so they could take back salary if they wanted to. The only way they do that is if they are thinking about signing a big they like this year and Trade Al Harrington for Timmy and a future pick and would basically remain 20 mill under the cap next off season where there are supposed to be some bigger names available.

I still think that KT trade will happen. I know the Hawks want him. Makes sense since he plays out on the perimeter on offense which will allow Harrington to post up still. As I previously mentioned the Hawks aren't interested in picks (got this info from reading the AJC). They are looking for solid veterans. Need a defensive prospect in the from of Theo Ratliff, Mutombo. I don't know if Bogut is that player but I still waiting to see what they try and do with trying to acquire Dalembert.

well if thats the case maybe we could get a pick from them. Or one of their young players. I'd like to have Josh Smith to work with and develop here, especially if all it costs us is a player and not a pick.

Al for KT & the late 1st rounder works & i think it's a deal ATL may consider...they could use some upgrading at the PF position, & a veteran presence to stabilize their squad of young guys.

Al would probably love to play in NY & be reunited w/Isiah...i think he'd be a 1000% upgrade over TT at the SF.

But Atlanta wants to keep their FA money to go after Chandler, Swift, Dalembert and Curry.

we've discussed this before & i still say ATL would rather trade Harrington than give up a potential superstar calibre player like Josh Smith, who can have marquee potential if he pans out the way they hope he will...

i kinda wish Isiah had traded KT instead of Nazr to SA because we could have used his expiring contract to package w/that late 1st rounder in a package to ATL for Harrington...but i still think it's possible to get Harrington since he's slated to sign an extension after next season anyway, so it could be done as a sign & trade.

Harrington is an upgrade over TT.. that much is sure. So if we dont spend picks to get him I'm ok with that. One thing, he did bitch about PT while part of an Indy team that was winning 50 games a year. There's some definate selfishness there.

I do disagree about the KT/Nazr thing. Regardless of his cap friendly deal I think KT has more value around the league. I think the cat's out of the bag in terms of how bad NAzr is.

you maybe right...ATL knows all about Nazr's game from his time spent there...hey if we could get Al for KT straight up i'd be doing cartwheels in my living room.

maybe trade TT for Stackhouse & Eschmeyer from DAL? their contracts expire the same year Houston's does, so i'm OK w/that deal since it doesn't really effect our cap situation for 2007.

round it out w/signing Gadzuric w/the MLE & using your picks wisely to fill the C & backup G positions.

C - lottery pick / MLE (Dan Gadzuric) / Esch or Butler
PF - Sweetney / Rose / JYD
SF - Harrington / Ariza
SG - Stack / late 1st rounder
PG - Marbury / Crawford
IR - Houston / Penny

I think by June 30th, we'll all realize what a great deal Zeke got for Nazr.

i dont like Al harrington at all. Hes been having bad problems with his surgically repaired knee, the Atlanta coach was very upset with him with Defensive effort, hes a tweener. hes a stat guy, not a team guy. I think our main spots that we need to deal with are BIGS and guards, notice we dont have ANY guards have Marbury and Crawford. The three position can be played by Tim, Rose, JYD, Ariza and right now thats more than enough. I dont see us addressing the 3 spot in any way shape or form, unless Thomas is traded for a nother 3, but because of his huge contract, it would take a max contract -to match.
Another option in the draft is to address back up spots. We could use high quality back up Gs

I think I agree with you on harrington, he seemed to have less lift and mobility on those knees this year..
