Unless someone get's lucky and wins the NBA Draft Lottery for the first 3 picks, it should be Utah at 4th, Portland at 5th, Milwaukee at 6th and New York at 7th. You figure Andrew Bogut, Marvin Williams (if he declares) and Chris Paul will be the first 3 players selected.

What will the Jazz do? Do they go for Chris Taft to replace Carlos Boozer? Do they go for 19 year old 7'3" Lithuanian Center Martynas Andriuskevicius or another foreign player like Tiago Splitter or Fran Vazquez? Remember they did sign Mehmet Okur last summer but he doesn't start. Or might they go for Gerald Green? I think the Jazz might play it safe and select a PG like Deron Williams or Reymond Felton. I think D.Williams is a Jerry Sloan type of halfcourt PG.

What will the Blazers do? I think they are set on Green, unless the Jazz take him. Or they might go for Andriuskevicius, who trained with Arvyas Sabonis, a Portland favorite. The Blazers are in rebuilding mode and could afford to wait a year or two for Andriuskevicius to develope. They might also like the other two foreign big's, Splitter and Vazquez.

What will the Bucks do? Green is sure to be gone. No way he get's passed the Jazz or Blazers. Would the Bucks take Andriuskevicius if he's there? I think since they want to convince Michael Reed to resign, they need a more NBA-ready player. Their frontline is pretty dule and they have a lot of FA's including Dan Gadzuric, Zaza Pachulia, Toni Kukoc and Dan Santiago. I think they would go for Taft.

What will WE do? OK, worst case scenerio - Green and Taft are gone. Not to mention Andriuskevicius. But Splitter and Vazquez are still there. Would Isiah Thomas take a foreign player? Like the Bucks, we need a player that can step in next season and play. It's difficult and rare for a foreign big to have an impact in his first season. And there have been a few busts the last few years - Darko Milicic, Nikoloz Tskitishvili to name a few. I don't see Zeke taking a foreigner, even Andriuskevicius. So all and all, I think we're going to end up with Granger. And it makes a lot of sense. Tim Thomas and Penny Hardaway are entering their last years of their contracts and Trevor Ariza is a FA. We need some depth at SF and Granger is a senior who is ready to play. He's also a good fit at 6'8" who plays with fire at both ends.

How do you see it playing out as of right now?

This draft is very wide open. While Bogut is the clear no. 1, its not a given he won't bust!

some team in the first 10 picks will make out like a bandit after Bogut.

This is the kind of draft that can make you a legend! It would still needs at least a year to really grade it, but with two no. picks, this is Isiahas year to shine.

or in two years, be shone!

good question. it's almost impossible to say who will actually pick in the top three slots, so trying to forecast the team needs of three teams ahead of us who may actually move up to the top 3 is tough. still it's fun so, I'd say:

1) Bogut
2) M.Williams/Paul
3) Paul/M.Williams
4) Jazz - Deron Williams or Raymond Felton, need a PG, badly.
5) Blazers - Martynas (need a big center, need something to excite the fans, the protege of Sabonis could be it. then again, they could do what the Blazers always do and grab the most talented player regardless of how he fits their team, in which case: Gerald Green)
6) Bucks - Need a big, DIRELY. Supposedly keeping Redd, and they have Mason, so they would probably pass on Green if available. They'd probably take Martynas if the Blazers took Green. If not, they'd take Taft or Splitter, I'd guess. It would be nice to finish here, "ahead" of the Bucks so we have the option between Taft and Splitter.
7) Knicks - if we stay at 7, we'll the leftover of Taft or Splitter. Not bad, but it'd be better to move to 6.

Of course, if the Jazz move into the top three they could get Bogut or Chris Paul and screw up the 4th pick. If the Jazz ARE NOT picking fourth, Green would probably be picked there. If the Jazz ARE picking 4th, they are a lock to take a PG unless they love Martynas. It's going to be a ton of fun to see how this plays out.

See guys, isn't this more fun than getting swept by Miami?

i think your projections seem to be pretty much the way i see things going down...we need to get lucky & move up into the top 3, bottomline.

screwing up this draft will cripple the franchise for another five years. this is the most talent-laden draft from top to bottom in a while. while there are not a ton of super stars there are probably a handful of all-stars. Zeke NEEDS to pluck one potential all-star and one core rotation player on Ariza's level or this losing **** will continue.

We all know how badly the Knicks could use Green or a big (Bogut, Taft) but the big thing is, neither Marvin Williams nor Chris Paul have declared yet and I'm not so sure Marvin Williams is a definate. Roy Williams has said that he has told Marvin that he could benefit from another year in college and most of the team these kids listen to their coaches. Theirs no doubt he'd be in the top3, if he chose and its hard to pass up, but I know he is 50/50 in his status. I hope both Marvin and Paul do come out to push more talent down to when the Knicks draft so that either Green or Taft are available to Isiah.

Atlanta and NO would take Bogut first, Charlotte would take Williams
Portland wants G Green, they already have two bigs. I can see Martynas fall back to the 15-20 section of the draft myself.
A guy that seems to be inserious play is the 7 foot PF from Italy, right now hes moved up to 4 on draftcity and hes #6 in nBAdraft on 2006, but he is entering this draft. It really sounds like he will go top 7,replacing the lithuanians C place in the lottery.
Ive been rading a lot of international analysis on martynas, and it seems as if they think he is a similar type player to kristic but not as much as inclined to grapple like nenad does at this point. However he is 3 inches taller and more athletic. I think I would see a guy like this falling down in the draft if he stays in and possibly staying in europe for 1-2 years

I still see our path to G Green through the Jazz. After Bogut, I rate him the 2nd best player available to me and I think hes acheivable because Utah really needs a PG. If we are able to stay in position 7 or even get lucky and tie for 6 and win the tie breaker, a swaop 4-6 is doable. if we move up in the last few games, thats out the door.

Briggs, that's assuming the Jazz don't move up to the top three and get a crack at Paul or Bogut. and that Portland doesn't move up to the top three and just take Green there.

But, assuming the Jazz are 4th, Blazers are 5th and Knicks are 6/7, what else would we have to give the Jazz to move up? $3million? The Spurs 2006 pick? Sweetney?

I think we will get Taft and I like that. But I'm not sure if he can play center correctly.

Nobody likes Danny Granger? I know we need a big but I'm not too high on anyone not named Andrew Bogut. Plus I think we'll get a better player in the summer through a trade. I'm not sold on Chris Taft, Tiago Splitter, Fran Vazquez or Johan Petro. I'd take Granger over all of them, maybe except Taft.

Im just going by the order now. Utah needs G's but they need a premeiere PG more than any other position by far. IF Paul goes top 3, they are left deciding between Felton and Williams. Williams[to me] sounds more like a Jazz type player, tough rugged etc... but if we are in position 7 for example--we can offer 3mm$ and an additional pick to swap. Hll if I come out of this draft with just Gerald Green, I will be happy. Would I rather take a big and not make a play for Green? No, I think green offers tremendous talent you dont pass on if you can get it.

The worst team hardly ever gets the number 1 draft pick. i see the knicks gettin the #3 pick and trading itfor a player and another pick in the top 10

Taft.. to me is a question mark. I want Green, M.Williams, or Bogut. Game changers. We need impact. I would trade Sweetney and our other #1 to get any of these guys.

Portland is no cinch to land Green. Whitsitt is out in Portland, so I don't think the same high school upside mentality exists there. Plus they have athletic wings in Outlaw and Miles. I could see Deron Williams going there, to get the ball to Zach, Miles, Outlaw, Pryzbilla, etc. They need someone to step in right away.

The Knicks will get the 4th or 5th pick in this draft...Which in my opinion is just good enough....Marb's jersey number will bring us good luck...#5.......

I don't see that happening at all. The Knicks will settle for the 7th pick.

Im not sold on Taft either... i dont think hell help our desperate need at the center spot now... the only one doing so in this draft in my eyes is Bogut!!! Id love to see him in a knicks uniform!!! hes really good!!! GGreen would also be a nice pick up!!!!! other than that i dont think any player will have an imidate impact next season for the knicks... I still think there are some great players in this draft that will have a really good time in the nba thought, but not just in their first year!!!
Id like to get Channing Frye with our late pick, even thought hes said to be a bit soft i like what i saw of him!!!

By the way... I really loved to see guys like Maurice Ager, Nate Robinson and the good ol' Pitsnoggle play at the tournament!!! Those guys were really fun to watch!!!

I've been touting Danny Granger here for weeks. I think he's a really good all around player and is gonna be a very nice contributor for some team. We need talented size thouhgh...I'd have to take Taft or Splitter first.
