He looks good now, but I'm glad we don't have him. I can't stop asking myself, how long is it until he gets bored in NJ? When does he start slacking off there, or has he instilled a confidence in you?
Anyway, whether you wanted him or not, no use crying over spilled milk. He's with NJ now. We'll just have to wait until next year to show them up.

Im not so sure that Marbury would have elevated Carter's game the way that Kidd has.Kidd is spoon feeding him the ball just where he likes it.

He would probably have to work harder for the same points if he were on the Knicks and I doubt that he would have.

Besides,I thought Isiah was trying to get him but the Nets got him first.

The biggest problem with Carter is that he was very injury prone in Canada. Everyone accepted him as a top tier player. His game was not being quesitoned, his durability was. Most people thought he would break down which is why they were hesitant to give up too much in a trade involving Carter. Turns out, we were all wrong about questioning his durability.

I was questioning his game. I thought it was over for him, that he was now strictly a gutless jump shooter. Guess I did't have such a level of cynicism that I could actually believe someone could bail out and tank on his teammates like that. My bad, I guess. i'm still lying in waiting with this guy, I don't trust him at all. he's gonna pull the same prima doanna crap in NJ I predict. I'm glad as hell we don't have him, I don't care if he scores 60 for NJ, just makes me want to kick the crap out of that team all the more next year. Don't you wanat to be at a game in the Garden when we do that, with the whole place chanting, "JA-SON . . . JA-SON . . . JA-SON . . .

Isiah was going hard after Vince...no one knows for sure what went down during those trade talks...for all we know TOR may have been demanding our lottery pick along w/several other considerations including Crawford, Sweetney & Ariza...who knows...if anyone actually believes Isiah would have turned down a deal of KT & cap filler for Vince Carter as was rumored in some news articles, they're nuts.

when you go after vince, you're not just going after the vince you see on the nets, but you're also going after the vince that "dogged" it and got hurt very frequently. so you have to take the whole package into account before trading for him.

vince is paying off bigtime for the nets but i'd like to see what happens if jkidd gets hurt or demands to be traded again or vince twists his knee again.

would he have helped? of course.
am i upset that we didn't get him? not in the slightest.

I don't think anyone on this board will debate who the better PG is. Marbury may have a better offensive game but Kidd is better in everything else and with 2 mins left in a game. Kidd can take over and make the magical plays while Marbury either turns it over or just passes it to non offensive players.

what carter lacked in toronto was a low post scorer and a leader.
carter is a natural scorer but he just doesnt have the leadership qualities jordan has. Kidd is the general of the team. Also Kristic is great, he has some moves at the post, decent shot, and uses his longness quite well. Maybe Kidd and Carter make Kristic look better than he actually is, I wonder if Sweetney can do better.

VC is playing great since Jefferson got hurt. But I don't think those two can co-exist next year. VC will have to go. Which may not be a bad thing if they can get a quality big man.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Lets knock a guy who is one of the 10 best players in the league because Isiah didn't want to give up Crawford and Naz for him, nevermind that the Marbury Carter combination would have been unstoppable

Isiah just missed the boat

Why does it have to be Zeke that influenced the fans' oppinions of Carter?
I think enough of them realized he was another huge contract, with a history of being injured, that freqently chose to take nights off.

In my eyes, it's only a matter of time until he goes down.

Sometimes in order to be a great team, you have to lay off what seems to be the "great " player, the sexy name, like vince carter. Carter with this knicks team was not going to lead us to a championship, you have to start acquiring guys, talent that can play together, and who still have a considerable amount of upside, I think that was IT's play by acquiring crawford, and drafting ariza and even getting steph, so far it has not worked so well, but it is still early.. Vince is what he is, he is a big time scorer, but also a person who dogged it, gave up on his team and is oft injured? is that the type of player we need? despite vince's great ability, sometime you just have to walk away. In the long run you may be better off....

Post like yours confuse me, I mean where did you read anywhere on this thread about crawford, thomas and mo taylor being defensive stars? This was about vince carter, who is not a defensive star in his own right either... I think the point being made here is that It is trying to find a mix of players that will fit a certain style of play. Where you are trying to go with your post is a mystery, but also seems to lack any relevance to what my point was....

This must the formula for winning a championship that he talked about previously.

He says Carter wasn't going to lead the Knicks to a championship. Guess what? Neither is Marbury, Crawford or Ariza.
How do I know? Because they can't even lead us to the playoffs!

Crawford and Ariza have a considerable amount of upside but do you think they will ever be better than Vince Carter. Get real

You then had the audacity to make a comment such as "Vince is what he is, he is a big time scorer, but also a person who dogged it, gave up on his team and is oft injured?"

Someone tell me that those exact words couldn't describe Marbury. If i'm not mistaken Crawford hasn't played a full season yet either
