marbury for brian grant + 2005 #1 and 2006 protected #1?

if we go full rebuilding mode, this will give us another lottery pick and put us well under the cap in 2007.

i'm very worried that marbury may go the way of houston from 07-10.

I'd do it. But I don't we could get two picks from the Lakers and Zeke would be gunned down by Coney Island by noon.

No. Absolutely not. Let the guy rest for the off-season and provide him with some guys over 6'10" who can play the game of basketball.

No.. MArbury is elite. Flawed but still one of the best. Lets establish a style of play and fix this roster.

I think we need a legitimate top 5 pick for Marbury for it to be worth trading him. The Lakers pick won't be very high this year and it definitely won't be high next year when they improve the team in the offseason.

marbury is elite.

my worries are this:

1. by the time we BUILD the team, will marbury be finished based on his physical style of play

2. and if he does drop off quickly, then we're stuck with him for the last 3 years of his deal at h20 type money

i'm all about 2007 - that's MY target season and i question whether marbury will still be elite in 2007, especially at his price. i think his trade window is 2 years. after that, we're stuck with him.

i'll go the exact opposite of your suggestion:

Kobe for Penny, Ariza, 2005 #1 and 2006 #1

This is where I am, mainly because the oppurtunity to get it done exists right now. It can happen right know this off-season, this draft and right up until the trade deadline, we can be a good team by then, so I don't think it makes sense to trade your best player when the immediate future is full of possibilities.
