The opinions on Crawford seem to have a wide range. I think he could be a good role player for some teams but I don't think he is going to be anything special. But I'd like to see what everyone else thinks.
He is or will be very good. Keep him.
He is or will be a solid role player. Consider trading for a reasonable offer.
He will never be very good. Trade him.

Sorry...I voted that he will never be any good.

Crawford IMO, and with alot of hindsight was an awful pickup for the $ they gave him. Not just the salary but the number of years. His one on one D is just terrible and his team D is even worse. He has alot of work to do if he wants to be a solid starter....mostly getting stronger so he can defend and take more balls to the hoop. I don't think he is even strong enough to give a hard foul.

I hope he proves me wrong.

i don't think there's any way you can judge this cat just yet...he's played what, 2 years of organized ball before he hit the NBA? no one's ever taught him the fundamentals of the game...get him a coach like Larry Brown who can teach this kid & i bet you he'll be at the very least, a solid role player, if not a very good player someday.

I think 80% of his problems this year are external. He's NOT in a system that takes advantage of his skills. He doesnt know whether to pass or shoot. Its like game 75 here... my god.

I think if we ever establish an athletic more uptempo team Crawford will be good. He will (is) be a nightmare to defend in the open court, makes good passes in transition and will kill you with the pull up jumper. His skills and what he brings is clear. Now can someone name one thing we do as a team that puts him in a position to use those skills?

Same with Sweetney. The one thing he does well is score in the paint. So watch how many touches he gets there each possession. Nada.

I think he's misused and if we got some guys that were better fits in here Crawford could have a MAJOR bounce back year.

I see Crawford as a very talented guy with very bad habits. I think he was a very good pickup at the time we got him. No one's happy with any of our best players now and there's no reason to be. It even seems like an oxymoron to say "Knicks' best players!" But Craw has the raw ingredients, plus he showed something important during that brief winning streak after the trading deadline, by turning into a passer and having those high-assist games. I don't know who or what got into him then, but he could be a great player for us when this franchise gets right. Everything and everyone is out of synch right now.

if he gains strength and plays an attacking style of offense, he can be good. If he stays thin and hides behind the 3 pt line, hes a waste of time.

I feel bad for Craw, in my opinion he would have benefit from staying in college at least another season. He was so badly coach and misused in Chicago which unfortunately continued this season. I think Herb is like his 5th professional head coach in a span of 4-5 years. When Craw said he is confuse about his role, I think he is being perfectly honest. And it is understandable.

This kid needs a fing intervention.Id like to see Isiah read the riot act to Crawford about his obsession with 3 pointers in the off-season.Make him watch a montage of all those bricked 3pt attempts this year.

If we can get an elite coach then it would be worth it to keep him,see what someone with a real track record can do with Crawford.

I like Herb but they stopped playing hard for him real fast.

If there isnt a real change in his game by the all-star break,then I would explore all possibilities.I wouldnt move him before then.

exactly, did you notice how well he played last night in the second half when the knicks had to play uptemtpo to catch up? he was almost unguardable, and was creating for others....

he's a real firecracker to me. It drives me crazy. He's even decent on the boards. He uses his length well to get long rebounds then turn up court.

If we played LESS talent but had a style of play we would win so many more games.
start:
Marbury
Crawford
Ariza
JYD
KT
4 athletic guys that can run and one tough dirty guy in KT. Tell them everytime you get a defensive board to fire a quick outlet pass and watch what happens when Ariza, Marbury and Crawford are releasing every play and JYD is the trailer. Rose would be good off the bench.

Add some other role players like Patterson, Steven Hunter, NAte Robinson and Petro and you have a team with an identity. Maybe we only win 38 games but fans will watch and we can get better.

Crawfull could be great in the right system with the right coach.

Could be a good triangle player?

A coach whom knows what he wants will know what to do with him.

HIs trade value must suck right now. Keep him.

I really can't say if he improved all that much this year, but I still have faith he can mature his game.

Trade him for Bonzi Wells, a more bigger, physical guard that can post-up and rebound..
It probably won't work salary wise but the Grizzlies has a team option on Bonzi where he might go elsewhere..

there are only four coaches that can get Crawfford to be a professional player, and they are: Isiah, Phill Jacson, Larry Brown, and Gregg Popowic.....These 4 coaches will not hesitate to pull him off the court or even bench him if continues to disobey what is asked of him to do. Larry doesn't believe in taking all of those 3s, and for sure would clash with Craw....

WRONG!!! WHat do you think they're doing over there in MEmphis???? They're run and play the half-court because they have multi talented players thats capable of doing both.....
Currently, Wells comes off the bench and is capable of scoring everywhere, run the break, pass the ball, good defender and a lethal threat in the post..
Too many big guards in the NBA are killing Crawford because of his weight and size.. MAny times MArbury has to defend the bigger guards..

Wow. Lots of opinions.

A couple more comments

- It is much harder for a coach to develop a player in the NBA then in college. There is a lot less practice time and the coach has very little leverage. Guys who improve in the NBA are mostly self-motivated. So I'm not convinced the right coach is going to make him play smarter or improve his weaknesses.

- To me the biggest downside is his defense. Without it improving - a lot - I don't see him ever being more then a role player.
