I am so tired of people saying lets get Charlie V. WHY??? 6'11 w/ ball handling skillz. Please! This guy hasn't proven he can play in the league. Peolple swear he was great outta high school but it was lebron that made him look like a star at that mcdonald's allstar game. Hes overrated He has no defense and he has no eyebrows!

I do. I don't see why not. 6'11" strong and mobile. He can shoot the three, block shots, rebound....he does alot. Why wouldn't you want Charlie?

I just don't see where all the hate is coming from.

from fans who have seen Tim Thomas be the biggest player on the floor and who know that size means nothing without heart.

Because in the league everyone is at least that talented, which means that the keys to success are things like heart and fire. I don't think anybody would deny Charlie's talent, but he hasn't shown the kind of fire that propels a player in the NBA. He'd actually have a better career in Europe.

Wow....

So what do you think of Sweetney? Sweetney has no fire what so ever......even if he ate some Jerk Chicken with a ice cold glass of hot sause, standing on a bed of burning coals, while getting shot with a flame thrower he wouldn't have any fire.

I don't think Charlie deserves the Tim Thomas comaparisons. Why only him? McCants plays like he could careless too.....already Gerald Green has be called lazy. Why does Charlie get beat in his head so bad?

I agree about McCants too for what it's worth, so i'm singling out Charlie, but it's Charlie that the thread is about.

Gerald Green lights up the competition on the big stage like the McD's all american game and dunk contest. pure shooter and jumps through the roof!

McCants isn't featured as much on that championship team they can feature the 6'8 May and he'll dominate college bigs. For all we know McCants can be a great NBA player. Same way Laettner was better than Hill and jamison was better than carter in college.

Charlie V is a tough player, he goes after boards hard and he can blocks, these are things Tim thomas never did, so the comparisons don't seem fair..

As far as Mccants goes, the guy can play, and I think he will be even better in the NBA, he has a fantastic offensive game and his defense is underrated..

McCants said tonight he is declaring for the draft - so let's see - we'll talk about him next year around this time and see what type of player he is - if he's the next Wade, the next Gordon, or nada. until then, all it is will be speculation and talk.

a better guy to ask is Briggs because he lives and breathes UConn. Myself, Ive seen CV play about 10 times, and the TT comparison is justified. Like TT she has size, skills and can really be exciting. When things go CV's way the kid is lights out. When they dont he really gets down and all areas of his game suffer. I dont know if he's not mentally tough or what his issue is, but when that shot doesnt fall or his man goes off he really looks soft.

I'm looking for guys to impress their will, to keep fighting regardless of the situtation. CV doesnt seem like that type of player.

Just my observation

McCants is Jerry Stackhouse. In college, its too constricting in a team game.

In the "me first" nba the kid if given a chance will shine.. Joe Forte, Omar Cook also had game. Nothing is a lock.

Ain't that the truth. Who would have figured Telfair would be shining in his rookie year and Omar wouild be out of the league already (I'm assuming he's out ??). Remember Omar averaged 8 or 9 assists for St. Johns as a freshman?

he got bad advice and took it. Staying in school for 3-4 years is a positive for PGs. I think he's playing overseas

Mccants, is a gifted offensive player and a good athlete, forte was a good shooter, just not the offensive force Mccants is, Omar cook could not shoot to save his life... I think Mccants will be a good pro..
