if we just pick up his option, we'll have early bird's rights after his 2nd year which means we can match UP TO the MLE.

but would picking up his option for next season and giving him a 1 year deal after that, give us his FULL bird's rights after his 3rd year with us?

yes... what we should do is what Dallas did and just use the MLE on him now (not all of it)

we could give him a three year deal at the LLE, and it would pay him as much as most first round picks and we'd get his Bird rights. I'd like to have the MLE to use on Hunter or maybe a guard like Flip Murray.
