The allegedly 6-4, 207-pound McCants is also a junior. He's a shooter more than a scorer, but he can really shoot it. Still, he has issues.

His father wrote "4-12-86 next Michael Jordan" in his 1-year-old baby book.

On his right arm, McCants has tattooed the words: "Born to be hated." On his left arm, it is "Dying to be loved."

"I'm really to myself and very private," McCants said in Syracuse. "I don't want anybody to get inside my shell."

McCants might be just different, but unless the player is so good that personality does not matter, the NBA really does not like different.

Dear God, who even cares if he has these weird tatoos. Did he commit a crime? Is he bad for team chemistry? Is gonna do Dennis Rodman like stuff off the court? My guess is probably not but who knows. If he likes to express himself to himself with weird tatoos, please let him do so. He's supposed to be a good ass ball player, so lets leave it at that and give him a chance to have a healthy and successful NBA career.

I wouldnt care if he had a picture of his grandma's arse on his arm, but what I wanted to know is if these phrases had to with something of the younger culture that I was not aware of. Im not going to play psychologist, but Im a little worrried when someone writes "born to be hated"????? "dying to be loved"?? you spend a lot of money on a high pick and it has a lot to do with your franchise's succs going forward. If a person is showing some kind of emotional instability, it could be better to go another route. This thing where he missed those games and calling NC hell on earth was strange, but these tattoo phrases are worse. I'm not a big tattoo guy as it is. Im with Steinbrenner on this one, Id prefer not to have players with tattoo's all over them if I could help it. But I guess you have to live with it a bit, you, do, however have to question a person stability with those phrases.
