What if Houston was 100%. What if the guy that dropped 50 two times in 2003 was back to his allstar form. And jamal crawford was the sixth man. Just think how good we could have been

If Allan was healthy, I doubt the Nazr trade is made, maybe the Mo Taylor trade is still made to give us more depth, though. Ariza probably loses a little time to TT...

I think we are in the playoffs as the 5 or 6 seed, give or take, and our draft pick is around 20....and we are looking at drafting Petro to groom as Nazr's backup....

Or Allan is traded for Spree at the deadline for cap relief...

A healthy Houston would make us a solid playoff team. Problem is he's pretty much done and we don't seem to be willing to try and achieve some fiscal sanity when his contract expires. Him, Penny, and Shandon are getting paid $39.5 million to give us absolutely nothing. Ariza gives us more production than all three of them, yet he makes a mere $.385 mill. Am I missing something?

Don't think so. It's just another reason why tearing it down and building through the draft is the quickest way to get us out of this mess.

man, just think about that for a second...how can a team operate with that type of business model? i'm kinda hoping cablevisions wins the west-side bid so they will finally stop this crazy spending on the knicks.

Lock this thread man....

I'm sick of talking about Allan Houston and Knick payroll. Allan Houston is the main reason the Knicks are in this trouble.

Move off this topic and let's think about the future.

Who cares, he is still a thieve in my opinion. I never liked his game when he was healthy, and I don't like him now that he is hurt. He is not worthy of all of that money. He is the reason why we are so bad as a team. We are stuck until he is off of our books

if your boss offered you $100 million dollars would you accept it?

would you decline it?

if you got injured and couldn't perform up to that contract, would you give the money back?

The one thing that i absolutely hate about basketball in New York is that fans feel they must have a scapegoat. I guess it's good for the heart or something but listen

Allan Houston is not the only reason the Knicks are in cap hell. If you erased his cap tomorrow, they still would be in cap hell. Besides, he took the money like any human being with sense would. He didn't write the check. He cashed the check.

It's insane at how some of these same posters were writing Allan love letters two years ago ad plotting to kill Sprewell and his family

Well, you got what you wanted. Deal with it

Allan Houston is critical to the Knicks and Isiah. He's Zeke's 3 year pass because any cap issues, bad contracts or losing seasons can always be blamed on Houston and of course Layden... right Guns?

Its not just the contract with Allan Houston its his game. He is just like a TT IMO not trying hard enough to be his best. If you remember his 99 playoff series against the Heat, Pacers and the Hawks. He drove, rebounded and even passed the ball. I was very happy with his defensive job on Reggie Miller. Then he got the contract, decided to start jumpshooting more often and ruined this team.

Fine, if can say it's not his fault that he started jumpshooting all the time or that he doesnt drive and rebound and pass the ball well. If you want to say, its not his fault that he cannot play defense, thats fine too.

But can I not hate him for being the epitome of a 1-dimensional player? If Allan Houston was 100% as a 2nd or 3rd option on offense, we would be in the playoffs but if the offense ran through him, we would be in a lot of trouble even with Marbury there at PG.

No team will ever win anything with Allan Houston as their best player.

for all intention purposes, allan houston should not even be talked about again. he's finished. until he plays a full season, there's no need to even worry about him. he's $20 mil and a roster spot and that's it.

I am hoping that he can comeback and produce for the money that we have been paying him. After all, he robbed us $20 million last and this season....

hes a what? a thieve? when healthy, his game has flaws, as does any player, although there is no denying, when healthy, he is one of the best jumpshooters in the league. And i dont know how many times people have to say this, he didn't ask for the money, layden gave it to him, its not like hes is going to be like, oh i would have taken 20mil less. get over it

With a healthy Houston and the current cast of characters I am guessing (who isn't?) we would be around a 48 win team. Anywhere from 10-15 games over .500. But who knows, we could still be stuck around .500 because he wouldn't improve the defense which is the biggest problem on this team.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

If Allan was healthy, we're probably a .500 team, maybe a little better. He's not, though, so let's move on.
