Here's my offseason plan ..

Step #1
New York trades:
C Marcus Camby
SG Latrell Sprewell
SF Shandon Anderson
PG Charlie Ward (contract expires 2003)
Rights to JVG

New York receives:
SG Penny Hardaway
SF Bo Outlaw
PG Randy Brown (contract expires 2003)
PF Tom Gugliotta (contract expires 2003)
2002 1st rounder

TRADE ACCEPTED

Why would PHX do it? The thought of having Spree, Marbury and Marion on a fastbreak is what the organization needs to bring fans back to Arizona .. Also, Camby as a trailer to this deadl trio is scary too .. Then they would be coached by JVG who preaches defense above else .. Defense leads to fastbreaks ..

Step # 2
2002 Draft:
PF Drew Gooden - drafted with our pick
SF Caron Butler - from PHX's pick

Step # 3
New York trades:
PF Clarence Weatherspoon
2nd rounder

New York receives:
C Vitaly Potapenko

TRADE ACCEPTED

Why would BOS do it? Boston has Tony "Batman" Battie and Mark Blount as their Centers .. Spoon has the same contract as Potapenko and Boston could need another SF/PF right now to mix with a handful of their Guards (Anderson, Delk, Strickland, Brown, Forte and Paul Pierce) .. Boston needs a banger inside other than Rogers and Walker (well, occasionally) .. BOS could snag another banger (Darius Songalia of Wake Forest) with our pick ..

Step # 3
New York trades:
PF Othella Harrington

New York receives:
PF Zach Randolph
PG Erick Barkley

TRADE ACCEPTED

Why would POR do it? Randolph has been riding the pines as of late .. POR would get rid of Barkely in the process .. Othella Harrington is an ideal back-up to Dale Davis and Rasheed Wallace; he's cheap and effective ..

Knicks 2002/2003 Line-up

C Kurt Thomas - Vitaly Potapenko
PF Drew Gooden - Zach Randolph
SF Caron Butler - Bo Outlaw
SG Allan Houston - Penny Hardaway
PG Mark Jackson - Howard Eisley

Bench:
C Travis Knight
SG Lavor Postell
PG Erick Barkley

If they got Randolph, why draft Drew Gooden? You'd already have a developing power forward. They should use the pick then on Curtis Borchardt of Stanford, and move Thomas back to 4. Butler is a nice move. Get LeBron in 2003
Starters for 2005
*-once all players are developed
PG- Erick Barkley
SG- LeBron James
SF- Caron Butler
PF- Zach Randolph
C- Curtis Borchardt
Bench
PF/C- Kurt Thomas
PG- Brandin Knight (2nd Rounder in 2003 used on him)
SG/SF- Lavor Postell
SG- Allan Houston
PG/SG/SF- Penny Hardaway

If Dallas traded for Ming and gave up Finley, they wouldn't have many 2-guards, and Cuban wouldn't mind another 3-pt. specialist and would pay for Allan, so maybe we could trade him there.

Why draft a power forward with Randolph, I'd rather draft Borchardt then, still, it seems like you have all the answers. :)

This move is in line with the time all our overpaid contracts are up, namely Allan Houston, Penny Hardaway, Howard Eisley and Bo Outlaw .. This is in 2007 ..

Knicks in 2007

C ?
PF Zach Randolph
SF Drew Gooden - scouting reports says he can play SF
SG Caron Butler - takes over Houston's position
PG ?

With the cap space that we have all we need to do is sign a veteran big man and a PG and we'll be set .. I know it's still far but if we keep a core of young players and let them gel just in time when we are under the cap then it should pay dividends for the Knicks in the future ..
