Z Rebraca. We need a 7 foot player who can play, it's very important.

Maybe we can trye to sign a package deal

Bobby Simmons full MLE 6 yr 40mm
Z Rebraca full LLE 2 yr 3.75 mm

offer them both on day 1 of fA

right kind of players... problem is roster spots. I'm not sure how we can sign anyone outright. You figure we are adding two draft picks, thats the roster right there, unless we are buying out a couple guys.

Thats the other reason I say we lock up Ariza now, use the MLE on that.

Marbury, Crawford, TT, Penny, JYD, Mo T, Kurt, JYD, Rose, Sweetney and Houston all on for next year. Thats 11. 10 if Houston retires, but I will believe it when I see it.

All this talk about our young "core" I'm assuming Ariza's option will be picked up or he will be resigned. Thats 12.

If Jackie "free first rounder" Butler is back thats 13

Draft 2 guys with the 12(ish) and 29th picks in the draft.
Thats 15.

Add a MLE free agent like a Steven Hunter or Rebraca and thats 16. Even if Houston retires its 15. Who from that group is on IR all year? Both draft picks and who else? Butler?

If Houston retires and we buy out Penny we could get it down to 13 assuming the above is true. Then you have one guy on IR and thats a little more realistic. Still its going to be a log jam.

yeah roster spots are a problem. we have too much duplication. But I know this, we need a SG and a reasonably solid 7 ft player. Little Z is better than Hunter, although he is 10 years older. Can we trade out of things instead? If we try to trade out, were likely taking other peoples sht. Do we want Mike Finley who has 4 more years on his contract @ 15mm per? when the dudes play has gone down and he has been non-durable?

I also agree. we need better players than that if we're going to become a serious contender. and if we need to trade Marbury to get some then we should really consider it. it sucks that we have so many guys with max contracts like Marbury, H20, TT, Penny that we dont have the cap room for championship players and we gotta talk to settle for guys like simmons/rebraca

the right kind of players would be championship players it's unfortunate that we can't get anyone of those guys because we have so many maxed out contracts. That is the real problem with this team

sure OK, i guess we can sign ray allen to the mle and dalembart to the LLE, and guess what, Bogut is going to last until 9 and Marvin Williams has accepted our 30th pick in the draft guarntee!

I understand that....

which is why I'm seriously considering getting rid of these max contract guys who are keeping us from both being able to throw huge money at Shaq or going the opposite way and losing, for only 1yr, and landing a Duncan, Yao and now Bogut.

IMO, I would rather not spend on Rebraca.

i don't want ray allen or rebraca. I want to win a championship. It would've been quite easy to accomplish with Shaq but since we missed out on him can we at least start thinking championship now by trading Marbury's $20mil contract as well as TT/Penny/H20/Taylor for draft picks so we can get the next ewing, shaq, duncan, lebron and actually compete for a championship.

Look I would love to believe that a team lead by marbury and surrounded by okay players like crawford and simmons could win us a championship and I believed it for a long time. Now I've had enough.

If all these guys made what they deserve and what similar players make around the league then we could afford to bring in championship pieces. But we can't because they take up the entire cap. They are a much more significant reason why we have no cap flexibility. Not because of guys like jyd and rose.

We must get rid off these max contracts immediately!

were talking less than 2mm$ a year. we have to face a couple of facts. one is we better have some players who can GO next year because our core team isnt young.

we SPENT 56MILLION dollars on a very mediocre SG, we have 0 7 footers who can play. even if we draft a young 7 footer, that doesnt mean he can play right out of the shoot. rebracca can play a solid 15-20 minute C role. i dont know what else to say, I think people have fantsay thoughts in their head. We need a big guy who can play somewhere in the roster and we need Crawford to go back to the bench as a sixth man because he is so drastically inconsistent. Replacements--IF we get Penny and Houston to retire, we can spend the MLE and the LLE and use our draft picks to fill out the roster.

If we can get Simmons and two young guys from the draft, what would be wrong with going after Rebracca with the LLE? he is 7-0 265 and can play?

we have no chance to be under the cap for years upon years, we will have to good of a team to be bad enough to get a top pick, so you go with what you can get, thats reality of NYK

with that said..

I will problably be very excited at the beginning of next year if we have Simmons as I always am. As i was excited after we got Crawford even though I would've liked it if Isiah had done better in the offseason. Eventually reality strikes and you realize this current Knicks organizaion is never going to do what it takes to win a championship so you win up rooting for them anyway and hope and a miracle happens with the players essembled and they win it all.

I'm just getting kinda tired of that. its so frusrating being a Knicks fan unlike being a fan of another team but I will always be a Knicks fan no matter what!

I really hope that happens. But don't you think trading Marbury's $20mil would be a more realistic option than hoping Houston retires this year? And even if he does we still won't be anywhere near the cap because Marbury is making $10mil a year more than he should be making. I rather use a draft pick on a Center and give him the minutes then wasting money on Rebraca. If we draft an amazing player who isn't a Center then I would just give Butler a chance. I rather get rid of sundov and jackson and have the roster space then waste it on Rebraca. Simmons I would be pretty excited about if we got him
