After watching this team coming together as of lately I know many of you have thought that Mo Taylor was a bad pick up. However I would argue that his post game is just as good as Sweetney's. I feel that Tim Thomas is really becoming unstoppable in the low box also. Sweetney is still improving but it be questionable if he is better low post player theat than TT and Mo Taylor. Who do you feel is bigger threat in the low box?

it is right now but like you said sweetney is still learning how to play and stay in shape and he's a better rebounder and costs a lot less

I've liked TT's lowpost game since the deadline, but if we placed special emphasis on getting him the ball and letting him do his thing, my pick would be Sweets.

We have no respectable, dependable low-post scorers, but I guess the "best" ones are TT and Mo Taylor. Sweetney has no moves. He usually has to either receive a pass from a guard penetrating or get a loose ball or rebound down low.

Sweetney. His ability to draw the foul sets him apart. Tim plays more of a high post game, and further out on the wing - where he can be deadly. Even Mo takes it further out than Sweets.

Sweets is really the only guy tough enough to establish pressence WAY down low. This team doesn't have anyone else who can do that.

Mo and Tim are silky smooth, Sweets is gritty. I like them all though.

Sweetney has no moves.
Please don't tell me you're serious. He has a bag full of moves that he works on with Aguirre and is constantly using.

He doesn't show them much in games, though. (Maybe once a game?). He doesn't get most of his points off his own creativity in the low-post.

Right now, when we run our offense through Tim Thomas in the post, our offense is most productive. He's draped with a double-team every time and he passes out well. He's got a huge power advantage and he basically gets a 12 footer anytime he wants.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

I'll agree with that, but my question is, how often is he the focal point of the offense? I thought we've been very successful when we let him do his work in the paint. Most of his points come from a) Offensive Rebounds b) Foul shots c) Marbury or Crawford finding him open under the basket.
He does have his nights where he has problems finishing, but all in all I feel more comfortable when we give it to Sweets down low, after he fights his way for good position, vs. giving the ball to TT or Mo, who usually are between 12-15 feet away.

That was my point. He scores in the low post if other people create opportunities for him or if he gets a loose ball. He doesn't have low post moves that he can do if you just throw the ball to him and let him create his own points.

You're right the Knicks don't go to him down low often. But I'm sure there's a reason for that. They've obviously seen in practice what he can do down low and in games when they occasionally do go to him down low. They don't feel he's effective enough to be featured in the offense down low.

Best is a tie between Mo and Tim. Sweets can't be the best because he has no idea what do to when he gets fronted. Everygame for the past 10 games sweets has looked lost when he is fronted. Teams know this and have done it more.

Good point. I think TT is now however becoming a force in the low box. It will be interesting to see what Isiah does in the offseason now that we are stacked at the pf position. One thing is for sure I don't think Malik Rose is going anywhere

I am seriously liking the way TT is playing recently, and that is huge coming from me because I hated TT's game a couple months ago and would have traded him for a bag of Pampers for my yet unborn child....

But he is really showing why so many teams have gven him the benefit of the doubt. He can be flat out dominating if he wanted to. He has the all around skills of Odom at the SF spot. He has the size of Amare Stoudemire (Tim is listed at 6-10, 240, Amare is listed at 6-10, 245), he can hit the outside jmper, can drive, and can post....Unfortunately he rebounds and plays D like Dell Curry...WHen motivated he can be a very good player, when unmotivated, hi stats should count for the opposing team.

TT now, Mo T by end of season, Sweets all next year...the kid has skills and is just beginning...he's got moves that are unique to him.

He's truly going to be a machine in the post, if/when we make the playoffs.

If Sweetney loses weight, I'll be pleasantly surprised. But in 2 years here, he's made zero progress toward that goal. It's time to stop using the word "when" to describe him losing weight. If he stays at this weight, he can be a solid scorer and rebounder (but below average defender) off the bench.

thats why I used the word if and not when and said you can trade him if he's in the same shape or worse but I have a feeling the Knicks won't allow it this time
