I say the Knicks should go after Demarr Johnson with the full MLE.

(Okay okay i'm just starting stuff but why not? Add a little spice to the forum...)

The guy has really been impressive with the Nuggets. He is capable of putting up the exact numbers of let's say, a Bobby Simmons maybe with less rebounds but that shouldn't be a problem because if he avg. more rebounds then we wouldn't be able to match his asking price.

Now, i really believe that D.J. can be had for the MLE exemption, in fact i believe he can be had for even lesser.

He is a tall and athletic player who can shoot the 3 and provide offense off the bench and ...well you know what the kid can do because he use to be on the Knicks

The great thing about him is that he can spell the 2 and the 3 position.

Come to think about it, what on God's green earth made Isiah NOT re-sign this guy? Was he THAT impressed with Ariza in the summer leagues? Or was he just trying to clear space for sg's Houston + Crawford? Or sf's Thomas + Ariza?

Also, I agree with Briggs, can Allan Houston just retire.

Side note: First round matchup of Denver vs Phoenix would be one for the ages. (If Denver keeps playing as well as they are playing now)

C Camby/ Stoudemire
pf Kenyon/Marion
sf Carmelo/ Q rich
sg Joe Johnson/ Demarr Johnson
pg Miller/nash

6th: Boykins / Nene

another one of those young guys who some of us really wanted to see play instead of Shandon Anderson because he was very good in limited minutes but never got the chance because the unathletic, overpaid, savy veteran had to play and lead us to another walloping 30win season. Won't surprise me if Sweetney and Butler are performing well next year else where while we're stuck with overpaid mediocrity. Last year I pleaded for them to start Dermarr over shandon and they never did. Sure enough we went on to win 30 something games and get embarrassed in the playoffs while shandon should something like 7-22 from the field

now I don't even want him back since we'e going to have to give him more than we would've if we just resigned him instead of waiting money signing Baker, sundov and Brewer. He won't get MLE money. A guy like Simmons who's a lot better will. Dermarr is still a very one-dimensional spot up shooter who doesn't play any defense.

We could use a backup SG who can shoot, but his defense is really really bad.

It might have improved with major consistent minutes this year, in which case he would a nice bench player to have.

Makes you wonder why we keapt both Mooch and Brewer on the roster and cut Demarr, when Marbury, Craw and Penny call all play the point also. Why did we need 5 players who can play the 1? And why is Bruno still on the team?
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

the MLE is way too much for this guy...you could easily sign him for the LLE...if not, you can find much better options for that money...i always liked DJ, but his defense is horrendous like others have said, & he gets muscled way too easily by more physical players.

for those of you who are making like his defense is houston-esque, I hope you all saw the nationally televised sixers-nuggets game where DJ shut down AI in crunch time... against smaller players, his long wingspan is utilized pretty well; even if we signed him, it would only be for a small role, not anything big. If he muscled up, he would be a pretty good defender...

I always liked Demarr him and ariza would be a nasty combo for us. Kinda like Chandler and Curry. One does all the defensive things the other the offensive.

tes, he's no Ron Artest, not even close...he's not going to shut anyone down on a consistent basis...all i remember from DJ is him being beaten on backdoor plays regularly, being muscled down low by more physical players, & not covering on rotations.

DerMarr got beaten off the dribble almost every time he was in a game last year. I like his talent...he's very smooth and could be a real nice scorer, but still has a long ways to go. He won't be commanding the MLE yet.
