I got the original trade premise from 1 of the posters on the zone, & tweaked it...i think all 3 teams get pieces they can use...what do you guys think?

NY trades Penny, KT, Ariza & lottery pick
NY gets Chandler, Pietrus, Davis & Frank

(since NY can't trade their pick this year, this deal would have to be a draft day trade w/the rights to the player they draft going to CHI)

- Knicks get a lockdown defender in Pietrus to replace Ariza & shore up their frontcourt nicely...Frank can fill the 5-10 mpg backing up Marbury again.

CHI trades Chandler, Davis & Frank
CHI gets Penny, Fisher, NY's lottery pick, GS's lottery pick

- Bulls get some lottery picks to continue with their rebuilding & are left free to re-sign Curry to an extension...Fisher backs up Hinrich at PG, & Penny comes off the books at year's end.

GS trades Fisher, Pietrus & lottery pick
GS gets KT & Ariza

- Warriors unload Fisher's contract & adds a young dynamic player to play SF alongside J.Rich & Baron...this frees them to trade Dunleavy, Jr. to the Clippers perhaps?

new Knicks roster:
C - Chandler / Davis
PF - Sweetney / Rose / Mo T
SF - TT / JYD / MLE fa or late draft pick from Spurs
SG - Crawford / Pietrus
PG - Marbury / Frank
IR - Houston

Isiah likes to go for the gold. I think he's gonna target a player with much more upside than Chandler (even if the player also has much more downside). Eddy Curry comes to mind. Possibly Zach Randolph (although his downside is actually higher than Ty's). He could have taken the safer approach and gone for a solid, dependable player that you know what you're gonna get out of, but he wanted someone with more upside (even if there's also more downside) and went after Jamal. Maybe pursue Eddy or Zach or Nene or Kwame (or if at all possible Ron Artest, but he'll probably be unavailable) and then use the MLE on a dependable veteran.

love Pietrus and would be so crazy to take on Foyal's deal to get him if it was for our garbage.

That being said he and Ariza are a wash. Penny is on his way to being gone anyway and I very much want to draft a player this year. Its not a bad trade persay, but your trading high pick and Ariza and for Pietrus and Chandler. Not sure its all that great. I think I may rather have Ariza and Petro at this point.

you really think so? i mean GS' lottery pick is likely to be a top 3, & NY's lottery pick should be around #9-#12...that's not worth giving up Chandler?

love it from a Knicks standpoint except I'd start Piertus for defensive purposes and he'll problably put up better offensive numbers than Crawford's 39%

I agree that Pietrus and Ariza are a wash. Ariza is actually having a comprable if not better rookie year than Pietrus had last year, and as far as size/athleticism/potential they are pretty damn close as far as I'm concerened, Ariza being a couple inches taller (though a little less developed physically).

So it boils down to KT/Lotto pick for Chandler. Would I do it? Probably, though it all depends on where that pick slots.

Pietrus can probably play both, but he's more of a SG...alternately, Ariza can play some SG, but he's more of a SF.

i think this trade addresses both team's needs since GS already has J. Rich signed longterm & don't seem to be all that crazy about Dunleavy, Jr. so far as their SF going into the future...i think a kid like Ariza (who went to school out West) might fit their athletic roster better...imagine him running the break alongside Baron & J. Rich?

on the flip side, we need to address our SG position, because Houston can't be relied on at all...Pietrus' defense is just what we need, & this opens up Crawford to swing from PG to SG as Isiah always intended...& Chandler gives us the young, athletic shotblocking bigman everyone has been wishing for...KT & the lottery pick is well worth it in my view.

For NY: Eh. Seems like a lateral move. I agree with VDesai's take: basically KT and a lotto pick for Chandler. I like Chandler, I wouldn't give up our pick to get him. We could get a Petro or Vazquez and get much the same kind of player, and still be able to use KT as a trading chip. Alternatively, we could draft a great talent like Green... and still have KT. I'd turn it down.

For Chicago: Absolute no brainer. Sucks to take on Fisher's contract, but it's easily worth it for two lottery picks. Penny for Davis is a wash, since their contracts end the same year; Chicago saves no salary here.

For GS: Easily the weakest link. Fisher is a bad contract for them, but not bad enough that they'd want to ditch their lotto pick. Pietrus and Ariza cancel out. KT doesn't seem too valuable for them, since they already have Murphy, Biedrins, Cabarkapa, and Foyle.

that's a fair analysis...i agree, GS is getting the short end of the stick it seems.
