I'm sold. The guys play hard and they are playing team ball. Lots of passing on O, lots or rotating on D. The guys arent restricted either. Guys like Marbury, Ariza, Crawford... guys that can be spontaneous and freelance are welcome to do so. I hate isolation plays which he still runs. Guys just stand around and if TT's shot doesnt go in there's no chance for an offensive reb.

I think a guy like Phil would just be another bigger distraction.

I am with you guys, give Herb some love. I am impressed with how the team is responding to him.

i would love to have herb back, but here's the deal - they play hard for him BUT he is inexperienced so there will be growing pains. if you resolve yourself to the knicks being a rebuilding project next year, then herb should not get any flack. BUT if you are trying to win next season, and lose close games here and there like with lenny, then everybody will be pissed b/c we didn't go after phil, larry, flip, etc.

i am 100% behind herb and know that this team is not doing anything or going anywhere substantial that a phil, larry, etc will make that big a difference. BUT in all fairness, chaney had his team playing hard as well and he got run out of here once fans patience wore thin b/c of years 2 years of lottery ball.

so for herb to come back, fans are going to have to accept his growing and learning process for at least a full season and if the losing continues, i don't want to hear any whining and moaning about it (this is not directed at anybody, just a general statement)

some of you said it already, there's no carryover. when chaney took over, this team quit and won 30 games. the next season, they played real hard and won 37 AFTER dice went down for the season AND spree missed the first 8 games.

i'm willing to give him a shot and be patient with him if all of you are as well...

btw, for those that were able to watch it on tv, did they show herb at the last substitution? he went all the way down the bench giving hi-fives to everybody. nice.

that's what guys do before they sign a big coaching contract. after that they get a little too swept up in their authority.

I have been in the club before it started. Everyone is playing hard. The bad defenders are still bad defenders, like Crawf, TT and Marbury, but guys are at least switching and working hard.

Herb is a bright guy and he seems kinda tough too, so it's nice to have that.

I've been wondering whether the change in Jamal's game (shot selection and passing) is attributable to Herb or whether Jamal's just finally learning on his own. It's just hard for me to imagine Herb teaching Jamal things that Isiah hadn't already been (or at least should have been) telling him on a daily basis. Your thoughts?

One good reason

If Herb is brought back, Patrick Ewing joins his friend on the Knicks sideline

The only coach out there that I would consider over bringing Herb back is Phil Jackson- and the reasons I consider bringing him back is he brings Knick mystique, he's won it all (yes, with super talent), and who knows, maybe shaq comes here after his contract is up and signs for the MLE!

If we bring back a more experienced coach as an assistant, and of course Pat, I'll definately sign up.

I like it. They play hard for him because if they don't, they won't be in the game. That's a 200% improvement over Lenny's "let's stick with what isn't working" approach. He knows what it is to be a Knick and it he has rubbed it off on the players. Keep him.

I want Herb to stay but then i think about Don chaney. when van gundy left the knicks were playing hard for chaney but were losing. in the offseason they give chaney a nice big check and guess what they kept on losing. phil jackson is going to the cavs n e way!!!

Herb is a very different coach than Chaney. For one thing, he's erased the mentality that Chaney and Wilkens installed regarding defense not being important. He has the Knicks playing defense and he has them winning. Sign me up for the club. I like Herb.

I am all for Herb to remain as our coach...We need some continuity in N.Y. to allow our players to develop some much needed chemistry...yes, it would be nice to have Phil or Brown around, but all of those names once had the same status as Herb...They made it because they were given a chance to learn and make mistakes...

If they bring Herb back, then he can thank TT because that has been the difference since the trading deadline. But if you want to see what a difference a good coach can make, check out the job George Karl is doing with the Nuggets.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.
