if the choices were malik/taylor or webber, which would you choose?

we gave up nazr, vin, moochie, #2 for malik, taylor, 2 #1's.

the other deal probably would've been penny, kurt, #2 for webber, #1

i probably would've went with the webber deal. i think he would've been a better fit here than in philly.

HUGE risk. let me clarify that, HUGE HUGE HUGE risk.
but if we weren't cutting payroll, then webber would've been a better option.

First of all, stop lumpting the trades together.

Rose is one trad, and Mo Tyalor is a completeley separate issue.

Webber goes a year past Houston, that would have delayed our rebuilding by another year, and we would still suck, cause he is an injury prone has been in the mold of McBust, Houston, Penny, etc.

No way we should ever get anybody of Webber's contract, injury status and age.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Webber's contract goes beyond Houston's contract. I strongly believe that Houston's last year will bring a lot of changes. I wouldnt have brought Webber in because I dont want to take mega contracts past Houston's last year. Judging from the criticism guns has gotten here, I know most people disagree with that being a reason to do anything. Thats just my reason for it.

If we didnt care about payroll at all and those picks wouldnt mean much, I would rather have Webber!

I think there's a very specific reason the trades you mention happened AFTER the Webber trade. They were reactionary. It's over. It happened already.

my question was based on whether we should've done both trades this deadline or just one in getting webber. we make the webber deal, then there's no malik and/or mo deal.

secondly, malik rose goes one year past houston as well at $9 mil. so the difference is about $9 more million. but getting malik's $$$'s biting into that year tells me that they have no intention of getting into cap manageability anytime soon, that's why i posed this question.

even if he gets hurt, this still leaves us with nazr, vin, moochie to make some sort of sign and trade this summer.

Malik + Mo T for Webber? of course i would make that trade...big risk in taking on CWebb's contract, but also big potential returns...as long as we weren't giving up any picks i would do it.

i would first try to get PHI to take this package instead:
KT & Penny for Webber & PHI's 1st rounder in 2006

C - CWebb / Rose / Butler or draft pick
PF - Sweetney / Mo T / JYD
SF - TT / Ariza
SG - Crawford / MLE fa or draft pick
PG - Marbury / LLE fa (Hunter?)
IR - Houston

then you can look to trade TT at the trade deadline next season for someone like Magloire, & you have a good roster to make a run next season in the East...of course, that depends on CWebb staying healthy, which is a big IF, but at the cost of KT & Penny I take that chance in a heartbeat...at worst you end up in the lottery again next season if the plan doesn't unfold well, & hopefully Sweetney will have grown into the PF that everyone here seems to think he'll be someday.
