Fatih Solak/Center/Turkey
HT: 7-0 WT: 270

Current NBA Comparison: Dalibor Bargaric and/or Mengke Bateer.

Strengths: Very tough on the boards. Good shot blocker. Finishes fairly well around the basket. Shoots a good percentage from the field. Good defensive presence, mostly because of his size.

Weaknesses: Raw offensively. Unreliable with the ball. Not very quick. Has good size, but still must get stronger. Turnover-prone.

So what do you think? Would he be a good player to take a chance on with our second round pick? I think so.

Here is another scouting report:

Fatih Solak 7-0 270 C Besiktas (Turkey) 1980 -- A late bloomer. This kid was a waiter until he was about 17 years old before ever picking up a basketball. He is playing his first pro season in Division I in Turkey with Besiktas of Istanbul and was a member of the Turkish 21 and under team last year. He is now a legitimate 7-footer who weighs about 123 kilograms. He is very strong despite hardly ever lifting. He has played with Yesilyurt and Istanbulspor in Division II for the last few years. He has a very very impressive upside. Huge upside. He is good rebounder and shotblocker and provides good post defensive presence. Offense is another story. Although he is a decent finisher (above 60 shooter) the ball isn't safe in his hands.

Definitly worth taking with our second-round pick. It's a shame that his offense stinks...

It seems like every center in the second round has a raw offensive game. Hopefully he's the type of player where it will be easy to develop that part of his game.
