I was originally in the undecided group, but now that I've seen them both getting a lot of minutes, I would very gladly offer Sweetney in a deal that landed us Eddy. Eddy's got substantial weaknesses that he needs to work on, but he's a gifted scorer. 16 PPG in just 29 MPG for a 22 year old low post scorer on a winning team is quiet impressive

until they start featuring Sweetney in the post im gonna remain undecided. every time they do Sweetney puts up big numbers. when they dont get him involved at all like lastnight of course he's gonna look like just another player!

Sweetney has to be more agressive too. He has to get low post position and demand the ball. When he does get the ball, he's looked mediocre. Sometimes he looks good, other times awful. He made Rasho look like an awesome shot-blocker on one play. When Sweetney is at his absolute best, though, he's still not the low-post scorer Eddy Curry is and doesn't have the upside Eddy has. Trading Sweetney, who's very replaceable, for a potential all-star if not superstar like Eddy Curry, is a smart risk IMO.

I like Sweetney, but there is one thing about his game that I don't like,,,,He doesn't demand the ball, he is not agressive or one that will force his will on others...He is an excellent rebounder and has a lot of skills, but the great ones are agressive and demanding....We are lacking one of those players in our team....Marb is very capable of becoming that player, but he is affraid that he will be called selfish by the media or team mates...

i preferred Sweetney over Curry at the beginning of the season, & i still hold to that now...it's simply harder to find a young player w/the size & ability of a Curry than of a Sweetney imho...you hear so much about Sweetney's "work ethic this & work ethic that", but shouldn't he have lost the weight he's supposed to lose by now if he's such a hard worker like you all think he is? yes, he's got talent & he can rebound, but he's still got alot to learn to be a star player in this league just like Curry does...Curry has bigger upside potential & he's a C...to me it's a no brainer & always has been.

sweets real weakness is that he has no idea what to do when a defender fronts him. Its so obvious I am surprised I have not seen anyone bring this up yet.

The only reason that I never liked that proposal was because of the price that we might endup paying for Curry (the underachiever)....
he wants a big paycheck, but he has yet to earn it.....I wouldn't want the Knicks to reward this dude with a huge contract mainly because of potential

that is his achilles heel and problably will be his demise in New York. When Isiah trades him for another big money undersized PF/C

He should just punch all this teammates in the face and demand the ball but he is too nice!

agreed. sweetney will be a nice player, hard worker, talented, has shown he can be effective. curry is a TT in the making. all kinds of skill but just missing something to make him dominant.

sweetney- one of the last of layden's "character" players?

Personally, I never liked Sweetney as a starting PF. Someone said he was fat in a previous thread and I agree. He is never going to lose his fat. He is a good backup PF though.

I think martin was a sweetney guy. I wonder what he thinks.

I agree with all of that. (I'm assuming you meant to say you prefer Curry over Sweetney in the first sentence based on the rest of your message.)

Thing I don't like about Curry is his rebounding is the center equivalent of a Tim Thomas. Now, if he could really board, he wouldn't even be available in the first place, but it has to give you pause. We need some guys who can control the paint in more ways than just great scoring.

How about we just trade Sweetney for a first round pick this year and Grab Petro and Simien...

i almost feel like, if we have the assets to get curry, we might as well use them to get dalembert and get what we really need- D, shotblocking, rebounding.

I used to like curry, but watching him closely the whole year, the guy does not seem to like rebounding at all, his defense is shotty, but he is a gifted scorer who can score down low with power..

sweetney is a good rebounder but the guy has very little lift, therefore he has to headfake and trick guys to get his shot off, I mean he just does not seem to have the abililty to post a guy and just go over him for the shot.. On defense sweetney makes some stupid fouls, just stupid, I think he will be a good player, a good starter? that is still up in the air for me..

Disagree. Keep the guy with the most upside and who's still under rookie contract.
