Who's minutes is he taking? Its not Kurts, its... YES! Mike Sweetney!
sorry for the sarcasm, but as I watch our season slide down the tubes what do you want to see? A young player possibly blossum with extended minutes or a player approaching 30, the downside of his career and a bad contract try to resurect himself for... what?

I dont know, but I know it sucks. Hope this situtation plays itself out on some positive note. I'm not holding my breath.

On a side note I have been in Denver and missed the Mia game. How did Craw get 12 assists? Was he playing PG and MArbury the 2?

This team does have some good players.. hopefully we can add a couple more good young ones and fix the 40 PF issue, but that will probably mean MS playing elsewhere. Too bad... I'm always sentimental about sweaty guys from GTown

we probably could of done without mo, but I think IT has his eyes on next year with this trade, Is IT really convinced that sweetney is starting material in this league? who knows..

I still like the trade. It is not taylors fault herb is putting him in. Take that up with the coach. before that trade who would we have had to play if we traded kurt? Sweets,JYD and rose something i noticed is none of them are over 6'8". Also seeing as half the games sweets play he is in heavy foul trouble that would have made our front court very thin.

crawford at his best game of the season, imo, running this team. he was making spectacular passes and hitting the open man all the time. when the knicks built their double digit lead, it was with crawford running the point (which included a nice alley to tim). he looked VERY impressive. his shot was off but he didn't take that many. marbury came back in, and took a few ill-advised 3's to sort of kill that momentum - he had 1 stretch with 3 bad possesions in a row. but he picked it up at the end to keep it close but again, bad play with the score tied at the end with marbury iso, then double teamed, passed to kurt and he took a 18 ft jumper over shaq with 10 seconds on the clock and missed it.

as for sweets, this is what i posted while you were gone:

here is a breakdown of mike's stats over the season
nov - 16.8 mins 7.7 ppg 3.9 rebs 54.4 FG%
dec - 16.5 mins 7.7 ppg 4.7 rebs 56.0 FG%
jan - 17.8 mins 7.2 ppg 5.5 rebs 47.4 FG%
feb - 22.4 mins 10.2 ppg 6.7 rebs 51.7 FG%
mar - 19.8 mins 9.0 ppg 6.0 rebs 55.6 FG%

his #'s were going up every month and then BAM, two trades later and his #'s are back down. what is this team doing? by april, he would probably be around 13/7. now he's back down to 9/6 on 20 mins a night AND he's starting!!!

i'm very upset with the way they're handling this guy. EVERY OTHER TEAM plays their freakin' rookies and high draft picks. they give them minutes and minutes and minutes and minutes. why are they not letting him grow?

since the trade deadline:
phi - 32 mins 10/9 3 fouls (no nazr, no malik, no mo)
ind - 13 mins 3/3 4 fouls
lal - 30 mins 19/12 4 fouls
@orl - 16 mins 4/4 2 fouls
gsw - 28 mins 19/7 4 fouls

so you can see that there is no correlation between fouls nad minutes. BUT you can also see that he is on a very short leash. that's not how i wanted his development to go. i don't care if he's a career 6th man, we need to give him 30+ every night to see if he CAN start.

as for his last 3 games:

was - 15 mins 7/6 4 fouls
sea - 20 mins 6/7 4 fouls
mia - 21 mins 4/5 4 fouls

with ZERO action in the 4th quarter.

the way this team is handling sweetney is DISGUSTING.

to just go by stats alone does not tell the whole story. it makes it seem like he was never in foul trouble in those games when you know that is not the case. Most of those games he was in early foul trouble. I have no idea why they don't use him in the 4th but stats alone only tells have the story.

agreed but not too much. and Sweetney and JYD need to get most of the minutes. But thats if we wanted to win! I hope the goal now is to lose because its too late!

Having all the PFs that we have is really a problem...The funny thing is that none of them is big enough to play Center....Chicago is blessed with Chandler and Curry who are both 6'11/7' players, but we have been doomed with a bunch of short dudes for the last five years, and that has to chance after this season...I don't mind Rose and JYD, because they are versatile players that can play at least 3 positions...I hope that Isiah bring into camp a couple of 7's that can play, not stiffs like Bruno and the big chinese dude....We need that can either score or block shots or present a defensive force

Terrible trade anyway you look at it, we didn't need Mo Taylor he will never get himself in shape and never commit himself.....

And Crawford took the most ill-advised shot of the game, and it really hurt the team....Marbury was our scoring for most of the fourth but thats the way these two play, no brains, their is a reason we lose so many close games....They are not clutch players, a bank shot does not count....they make bad decision with the ball, and often give it to the wrong people

Personally, I think that we should trade Crawf...It's either that or we reduce his role considerably strictly as a play maker not a scorer...He is good enough to run a team, but he is not consistant enough of a shooter to be the first, second or even third scorer...We have a big issue in our hands that we will need to fix...Isiah has to either find a bigger SG to be our starter and uses Crawf as backup PG/SG or combo guard...the SG position, PF, and Center must be addressed by end of season...We can't afford to go through as a lottery team especially given the payroll that we have....Drastic changes has to be made....

Silly thread? Who liked the trade to begin with? It's kind of like starting a thread, "Still think Howard Eisley is the best PG in the history of the NBA?"

Sweets gets in early foul trouble & doesn't get back into the game- Herb is either trying to teach him to stay out of foul trouble or feels that the players on the court get into a rhythm that he doesn't want to mess with

I look at Mo playing as the knicks as an organization trying to find out what he can do in the hopes of increasing his value-

Based on what they see or don't see, I think that will decide the fate of Sweets & KT.

We also gave up a #2 draft pick which is the only part of the trade I don't like. We should have received a pick instead of giving them away.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

I still like this trade. Mo is a baller, will produce in the post and clearly opens the floor up for TT...I say trade rose and Kurt for that center we all want. And let sweets battle it out in preseason with another of his ilk. Hard to compare sweets to KT, completely different players.

can we please stop talking about Mo Taylor guys? I mean really...for those of you who hate the trade, get over it already...& for those of you who are blaming the loss tonight on Mo T's play, try looking at the boxscore...Sweetney, KT & Rose all logged more minutes tonight...then take a gander at those "30's" next to Shaq & Wade's names...i don't think Mo Taylor was covering those guys all game long, was he?

if you want to blame anyone, why is no one blaming TT for another 1 of his 8 point, 4 rebound performances in 31 minutes in a game that the Knicks had to have? what about Ariza's 17 minute 0 point performance? Penny was able to match Ariza's stellar statline in only 10 minutes so i guess he had a decent game all things considered, right? & good ol' JYD gave us an intense 12 minutes w/his 3 rebounds & 2 turnovers.

guys, they lost to a far better team tonight...that's all that needs to be said...Isiah's got alot of work ahead of him to get this team back on the right track...the Mo T trade whether it was good or not didn't bring us to where we are today...if Isiah's got a plan in mind to use all the pieces he's assembled here, i want to see it this offseason. Otherwise i may turn against him myself...3 years of failure or more is enough for any GM to get the Ax IMHO.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
