mo taylor + jyd + 2006 spurs #1 (or this year's 2nd rounder)

for

jalen rose

salaries all match up. toronto gets a late #1 out of the deal (to make up for the talent discrepancy) and a fan favorite back and a backup to bosh. AND they have the roster spots.

we get a combo guard/SF (after tim and penny walk) and clear the PF logjam.

Why would we want jalen rose? I'd rather have Lee Nailon back-thought he had some talent and this yr is avg 15-5 and 2 assts in 30 mins. You propose giving up a tough defender and great teammate and adarn good scorer as well as a 1st round pick for a self centered although talented overpaid player (aren't they all?) who blows hot and cold.

the reason for trading next years pick is b/c the draft won't be as deep b/c of the CBA agreement so purchasing a replacement #1 will be easy.

secondly, i want to clear out our PF glut and balance the roster out a little bit.

isiah wants a combo guard and depending on our draft, jalen rose can fill that role.

i'm not a jalen rose fan, but i was looking at how we could accomplish a little more balancing of the roster and this worked.

someone explain to me why we need another combo guard when we already have Crawford and you can even argue that Steph is another combo guard. What we need is a real shooting guard who is 6'6'' and can play perimeter defense.

In my mind, JYD > Jalen, unfortunately Jerome plays a position we are stocked in.
I see absolutely no urgencey for Rose to give up any kind of a pick.

we have 2 guards on this team - marbury and crawford. that's it (penny's done). we NEED a combo guard unless you're happy giving marbury 40 mins and night. now, with that said, we can probably draft a good one with our lotto pick but that pick seems to be dropping by every win so who knows who's available.

so this is a deal AFTER the draft.

jyd and malik are redundant. mo taylor and sweetney are redundant.

i don't like rose but isiah tried to get him b4 so he may try again.

i was looking for a deal that would give us a legitimate backup PG/SG while reshuffling our roster by removing our PF glut AND opening up a roster spot so a rookie doesn't have to go on IR all year.

the reason for the 2006 pick is b/c it's late b/c it's the spurs pick. and it's a weak draft. we can always buy a #1 next year IF isiah sees a player he likes.

i don't think it's a far fetched trade and it does balance out our roster a little better. then when penny and tim are up, we can let them go without any hesitation b/c we have rose to fall back on (if we don't get a combo G/SF in the draft).

neither team takes on more $$$'s or more years.

if you watched jalen rose this year, he's come up BIG EVERY 4th quarter for toronto. he's has a bad rep so management wants him out but apparently, he's very fan friendly, and he does produce.

oh, and for the mo taylor trade supporters, rose has MORE VALUE.

Rose is a very good player. I'd gladly do this deal but I think the Raptors can get more for him.

this is a total lateral move b/c it doesn't save money and we don't get younger BUT we get a more balanced roster.

if there are other guards out there who we can get while opening up roster spots and clearing out our PF glut, let me know.

i think this works and something isiah can do.

Is anyone guaranteeing that the SA pick will be a late pick??? Remember that SA was a pretty good team with the Admiral at Center+he went down for the season=lottery+good bounce of the ping pong ball=Duncan

That's so stupid. You trade a good Post player which is what we need, a good energy defensive player off the bench, and a pick where we could get a decent back up point guard, for what? A talented (fairly old) SF?
I thought the sloagan was All Ball, not All Lottery.

My plan is to make Crawford the combo guard off the bench. He is too much of a liability defensively and he kills the offensive chemistry. We are better when he doesnt shoot. So let him come off the bench and play against 2nd units. He will still get his 30mins that way and bring in a real 6'6'' SG who can play Defense..whether its through the draft or signing Larry Hughes i dont care. I think Crawford is best suited as 6th man playing backup PG/SG.
