i think the best thing about Malik is that he comes in w/a championship ring on his finger...no one else on this roster has that...it gives them all motivation to work harder to get 1 for themselves when they see it on 1 of their teammates' fingers imo.

plus, Malik is a pro's pro, always hustles & adds a nice presence to the lockerroom...how much of a leader he is i have no idea, but i like what he brings to this team off the bench.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

i've read in more than one article that Malik talks a lot on the defensive end of the court, just what the Knicks need. All it takes is one guy to really push the team over the hump and all the rest will start in. That's definitely a form of leadership - one of the reasons I think Isiah got Malik.

now imagine we parlayed vin + moochie + 2nd round pick for ruben patterson. now we're talking about 4 players that like to play defense (ruben, malik, jyd, kurt).

oh well, spilled milk...

let's hope the trend continues

phi - without any PF
ind - without jamaal tinsley
lakers - full roster
@orlando - blow out
gs - full roster
was - without antawn jamison

but after january and february a win is a win is a win is a win is a win

I'll take Taylor over patterson anyday. Sweetney is still inconsistent and he can only score inside which is good but Taylor can score inside and out and i think its clear what effect having more low post players have had on this team. i'll take Taylor and Sweetney's low post game over a frontline of KT/Rose/JYD anyday since i don't feel like watching a jumpshooting display of bricks by stephon and Jamal.

Plus i don't even think Patterson is all that good. Way too overrated here

Patterson over Taylor is a no brainer.. sorry, especially when you look at the team needs. We need a defender on the wing, not a 5th PF.

Anyway I will agree with the gist of this thread. While Malik's contract is gross brining in a guy of his character when your (claiming to) build through the draft is a solid move.

fair enough but instead of giving 30+ mins to mike to know if he can handle the load over the long haul, why are we pulling him when he does go into a little lull? it doesn't benefit anyone b/c he needs time to play. it only speeds up the development process. same with ariza. he's light years away from mike in terms of being ready night in and night out but 5 mins? come on.

Taylor is a lot more talented plus we would then have a glut at SF with TT/Penny/Ariza there. I'll take Taylor's talent and upside over the cancerous blazer

Did any of you see the move that Taylor put on Kwame?? He didn't convert after that, because the refs called a foul, but that move was sick....My straight crossed Kwame over. He almost broke Kwame's ankles.....I am really liking the combo of Sweet and Mo, if we had a bigger man at the Center spot, it would work even better....TT had an off night, but he still attacked the basket, but he still needs to finish a little stronger than he did last night...On many occasions, he could have had a three point play, bu due to the fact that he didn't finish strong, the defender knocked the ball out of his hands..None the less, it was a good win...

I like to think of Taylor as a solidifying option in the post rather than as a 5th PF. Verily, one of those guys will be gone before the next trade deadline.

Better to have too many bigs than too many smalls. Granted, the Knicks don't have a center, but Nazr really wasn't a starting center any way you look at it.

TT had an off night

if you really think about it, 4 out of the last 5 games were tim's "off night" - the game against orlando was the tim we all know and love

Martin you are the man! what you said is so true! is ruben patterson really all that worth it! Tsylor is having a much bigger impact on this team then patterson would since he's be stuck behind penny/ariza/rose/JYD because he is not all that special whereas Taylor is talented and gives us what we desperately needed, low post offense. So that we don't have to witness the steph, craw, KT perimeter brick show.

i think it will be KT/Rose/JYD but maybe Sweetney/Taylor but only for a really good player in return.

don't fear any player being gone if the deal upgrades our team. I'd fear losing Lebron, Duncan, or Garnett. I wouldn't fear losing anyone else.

Let me clarify something for all of you real fans....Sweetney and Mo are here to stay. JYD and Rose will be here also, because they are the type of guys that Isiah likes to have around...Guys that won't be whining about playing time, and guys that will bring it whenever they get an opportunity...Mo and Isiah have a long history together, believe, Isiah wanted this guy around, and most of all, Herb likes him too...

i think it will be KT/Rose/JYD but maybe Sweetney/Taylor but only for a really good player in return.
