Dwyane Wade. Why does no one mention this guy? Shaq says it's Wade's team; I agree. Who's had a better year than Wade? Nash? He gets more assists but Wade is better in *every* other aspect of the game, especially defense. Wade's also led an inferior team to a record comparable to Phoenix's. (Shaq's great, but Shaq plus a bunch of role players is NOT as good a supporting cast as Amare Stoudemire, Q-Rich, Joe Johnson, and Shawn Marion.) I'm not trying to bash Nash; he's having a wonderful season. But I'd put Wade ahead of him. Duncan could be considered a top candidate too, but I'd give it to the new kid on the block.

Let's be real here, its all Shaq.

You put Shaq and 4 scrubs around him, and they will win 50 games.

Shaq specifically told Wade he was going to be an allstar this year. And he wasnt the only one who saw it coming.

As far as I'm concerned Shaq should be the MVP every year. There is no player that even comes close to his domnance of the game. Name on other player that has be double and triple teamed just to keep him from simply dunking.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Shaq. His presence changed the way defenses were able to play Kobe, giving him more space to operate. Wade is being afforded the same benefit.

Wade's been playing well, but MVP? There's been guys like KG, Duncan, Dirk, Shaq, Leborn, Nash, Iverson, even Amare who I would consider before him.
Should be fun to see who ends up taking the honor.

Let's stick to the Nash vs Wade comparison. What does Nash do better than Wade? Assists I guess. What does Wade do better than Nash? Everything other than assists (which Wade is still awesome at).

MVP-Most Valueable Player.
Phoenix is 46-14. Without Nash, they're like what, 1-5? I'm not saying Nash is my #1 pick, but those are the things you have to take into consideration. As good as the Phoenix roster looks on paper, even without Nash, they're just lost without him setting up the players. He makes them a much better team, period.
Wade has had a tremendous season, and has been rewarded with the All Star nomination. With that said, I don't think he is quite at the MVP level, especially with Shaq on the team, who, like Nash, is making everybody else on the roster better. Another reason it will be hard for Amare to get serious consideration.

1-5? I'm not a big fan of evaluating players based on how their teams do in a very tiny sample of games that they don't play in. Wade does so many more things than Nash and he doesn't have the poor defense Nash has. You gotta play hard and well on both ends to get the MVP award IMO

In terms of athleticism, Wade is superior to Nash, but if I had to go with a player, THIS YEAR, give me Nash any day. He's so fundamentally sound. He can shoot from anywhere on the court. He takes it to the basket, makes every last one of his teammates better, even if they really stink (That's Shaqs job in Miami actually) he's one of the most clutch and reliable players in the league. I have watched the Suns w/ and w/o Nash. When they don't have Nash, they completely fall apart, b/c they don't have anyone else who can glue all of their talent together.

For the future, I'll take Dwayne Wade, but this year, what Nash has done for Phoenix has been phenominal. He's the tezt book example of team player as well. This year, I am sorry, but my vote goes to Nash with Shaq not far behind, and Tim Duncan probably in 3rd.

Dwayne Wade needs to develop a 3 and a mid range game, or else the league will catch up to him. If he develops this though, he will be just as good and maybe better than the Iversons and T-Macs and Kobes of the world. But this year, he DEFINITELY wouldn't be as good as he is, if it weren't for Shaq. Again, not taking away the talent of Wade, b/c he is mega talented. But he's not an MVP candidate yet.

1- Nash
2- Shaq
3- Duncan
4- Ray Allen
5- Garnett
6- Tracy McGrady

The reason I say Tracy McGrady at 6 is b/c Houston has been coming back nicely, and T-Mac has also become a glue type of player for his team. He blends in, but also takes over when he needs. The Rockets would be nowhere w/o him. He's having a nice comeback season. He's very unselfish on the court, as well.

LeBron will be an MVP candidate very soon, but McGradys performance in the West is more impressive than LeBrons in the East.

wade won't win it b/c pippen never won it. he's the 2nd best player on his team so he can't win.

mvp is a 2 player race - nash and shaq

odds will be that nash wins it b/c nobody expected this from pheonix.

Nash shouldn't be MVP. Duncan should win it.

Someone brought up a great point. Pheniox scores the most pts in the NBA. But they also give up the most pts in the NBA. When they had Nash-Rich-Johnson-Marion-Stoud and nobody. And Nash went down they lost that ability to score more than everyone but continued to give up the most pts. If they lost Stoud-Marion-Johnson-Rich and there scoring they would have struggled as well since they didn't have JJ at that time and had no bench.

without diesel miami is nothing more than a second round contender. with diesel you have a final eastern conference finisher and what i termed before the beginning of the season "instant championship". plus, shaq comes out and promises, i'll say it one more time promises a championship after being traded. mvp type candidates lead by example, shaq is the unequivocally, hands down mvp this season

I think Iverson is the MVP this year.

Wade is definately legit......dude is putting up historic numbers. So is Lebron James.

If Steve Nash wins it I will be highly upset. If Nash wins then Kidd should have gotten it a few years back when he led a gang of misfits to the Finals.

ai, is in the running, wade, tmac, james , and i like amare over nash.

its funny how people talk nash but sir charles took the award while suns flaunted top pgs with kj, kidd, star, and now nash ....yes, if nash wins, kidd should retire. how many teams have that kind of selection in say a decade.

kidd was without a doubt robbed [nothing against duncan]....

dwayne wade for MVP. hahahahahaha.

Duncan, Nash and Shaq are the only "true" MVP candidates out there

Iverson, Wade, Lebron are having good years but MVP type years? Yeah RIGHT

Of course you could give it to Shaq or Duncan every year. There's a reason these guys won 5 championships in a row until last year.

This year I think you have to give it to Nash. Sometimes it's just a guy's year when he's the talk of the league. Like KG last year, AI a few years back. It's just Nash's year.

My choice for the real MVP? Ray Allen. That's a real mediocre to crappy team around him. He's been phenomenal, ridiculously valuable to that team.
