03/23- EARLY ENTRY HERE WE COME- T-minus 95 days and counting.... The draft steadily approaches, and there will be news almost every day until the lottery, suggesting which underclassmen will toss their names into the pool. So far here are some of the notables who either by words or actions have made themselves part of this draft class. Foreign prospects become automatically eligible for the draft at a certain age, based on birth year, this year's European class is 1980, so all players born in 1980 or later are eligible to have their rights drafted by an NBA team..

Jason Williams (Duke Jr.) Tito Maddox (ABA) Frank Williams (Illinois Jr.) Marcus Haislip ( Tennessee Jr.) Carlos Boozer (Duke Jr) Jamal Sampson (California Fr.) Uche Okafor (Missouri Jr) Yao Ming (China) 1980 Bostjan Nachbar (Slovenia) 1980 Jiri Welsch (Czech Republic) 1980 David Andersen (Australia) 1980 Juan Carlos Navarro (Spain) 1980 Mario Stojic 6-6 SF (Croatia) 1980 Luis Scola (Argentina) 1980 Lazaros Papadopoulos (Greece) 1980

LIKELY COMING
DaJuwan Wagner (Memphis Fr.) Qyntel Woods (NE Miss CC So.) Kareem Rush (Missouri Jr.) Chris Marcus (Western Kentucky Sr) Jared Jeffries (Indiana So.) Drew Gooden ( Kansas Jr.) Lenny Cooke (HSSr) Chris Wilcox (Maryland So.) Kei Madison 6-9 (Okaloosa-Walton So) Curtis Borchardt (Stanford Jr.) Amare Stoudemire (HSSr)

Notice Jamal Sampson is the newest to declare. He's a solid 6-11 freshmen center from California and he could be a possible late-first, early-second round pick for us. He also could allow Gadzuric or Jennings to slip a few spots. Just something to consider.

What is the exact date of the draft? And does anyone else besides me think that the NBA should have an age limit. If it restricts foreigners to those born in 1980 or later, they should do the same for American players. That way, the college game would improve immensely with high school prospects actually going to college and the draft wouldn't be as much of a crapshoot. Best player available would be taken, not like it is now with who has the most potential. And if a player didn't have the grades to play in the NCAA, he could go to the NBDL until his draft eligibility date, where he would enter.
