i had an interesting conversation about the greatest centers of all- time. this was also a topic a couple of weeks ago on the wfan. how would you rate the best centers ever and where would ewing rank? i would have to factor the competition level and era that is why i would rank mikan lower than the others. also the tendency to make others around him better ( sorry wilt). here is my top ten:

1.) kareem abdul- jabbar

2.) wilt chamberlain

3.) bill russell

4.) hakeem olajowan

5.) shaquille o'neal

6.) patrick ewing

7.) george mikan

8.) moses malone

9.) david robinson

10.)willis reed

I dont like to do this because era's change.

I would say Hakeem and Shaq were better than Ewing, but Ewing had the edge on Robinson as far as the top centers of his era. If you want to slip in Kareem I would put him 2nd in that group behind Hakeem.

I'd consider Duncan a center. I'd also put Bill Russell number one overall. Not sure I'd have Ewing ahead of Reed or Robinson.

I would in a second! If Clyde had Ewing he would've won at least 5 championships instead of only 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think its fair to say that Reed is a better player. Ewing is

After thinking about it, I'd go:

1) Russell
2) Shaq
3) Wilt
4) Hakeem
5) Kareem
6) Duncan

Those are the elite to me.

well, i didn't put duncan in there because he is considered a big 4. he played that position for most of his career. if that was the case then we have to insert garnett and nowitski. however, if duncan is considered a 5, i would rank him ahead of shaq.

you can consider Dunkin a 5 since he guards Shaq but you cant consider KG/Dirk a 5
