It's official.

For all us of the unfortunate masses... is there any way to catch tonight's game? TW has replaced MSG with NBATV, but it looks like NBATV is playing Houston/Seattle tonight.

bummer.

this is why the knicks need to keep their payroll at a reasonable level of about 70mm. they are so leveraged up the arse by these payroll's that they don't have an inch to negotiate. at the end of the day to a cable provider it's all about$, thats it. Really just a small amount of winter time content that can be replaced with rebates and other sports programming.

someone keeps spewing the word capitalism on these boards. well, you are seeing just another form of it, they are telling CVC to go fck themselves and now CVC is left with a bigger hole in their pockets.

If the team valued money, if it spent money wisely, fans of TW would hav the Knicks on tonight. because the knicks leveraged themselves, because they didnt have a reasonable budget, those viewers get scrwd.

what is 70-75 mm payroll?

max players 3

37.5mm

5-8mm $ players
3
18.5mm
3-5mm$
2
8mm
1-2mm
6
9mm
-----
total number of players 14 payroll 73 5mm

with 2 mm in support $ during the year IF needed.

thats why the knicks need to use all picks on the draft and look for lower cost fA like Hunter

Not only will it balance the age disrepency on the team, it will create a financial flexibilty at some point and keep the team stocked with a talent pipeline

I can think of only 1 or 2 that doesn't.

as a season ticket holder, this will only start effecting me by next friday @atlanta. until then, it's home games.

i feel bad for you guys. i wonder if league pass would unblock those games for those that have it.

secondly, LISTEN to the games on the radio. it's not as bad as you think. gus johnson is fun to listen to - he gets you amped.

Yup, before I got cable this season, I always listened to it on the radio. You couldn't see what's going on, but Gus was still great to listen to, as well as even Breen. It's always good listening to Andraise too, however, I kinda laughed at the GS game. every chance he got, he basked Baron Davis. It was one of those annoying things, but funny at the same time.

LOL he did the same thing when Baron came to town with the Hornets, you can definitely tell that Johnny Hoops does not like Baron Davis' game at all

Briggs sorry but disagree. This has nothing to do with the knicks payroll, only 2 big greedy corporations with different agendas trying to squeeze every last drop out of each other. Around 1988 cablevision and msg had a disagreement and there was no knicks all year on cable. If I'm not mistaken there was no salary cap and no luxery tax at the time. If the knicks payroll was 30 million less this year you think they would tell time warner they are going to charge less to let time warner carry the games? and if time warner got a discount to carry the games you think they would turn around and give the cable customer a discount? no way on both accounts

Whatever the reason, the game between Cablevision & Time Warner is getting to be ridiculous...I wanted to watch the game!

What's sad is that in the end, the losers will probably be us the consumer, which in this case will probably be Time Warner subscribers who will eventually pay the price for Cablevision's ridiculous quest to get more money out of MSG.
Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...

George needs to buy the Knicks & bring em over to the YES channel!

to hell w/the Mets, they're getting their own network next year anyway.

Funny thing is...even teams under the cap occasionally have their games blacked out. Talk about a lame argument for reducing payroll. A GM should change his entire plan because one out of every 82 games might be blacked out?

this is not a 1 game blackout Bonn...the entire MSG channel has been pulled from Time Warner because they can't reach an agreement w/Cablevision over their desire to make MSG a premium channel...Time Warner has replaced MSG w/NBA TV for now until an agreement can be reached.

Don't conflicts like this happen even with teams that don't have huge payrolls? Either way, I wouldn't change my rebuilding strategy. Isiah doesn't control Time Warner.
